Our host Ellen welcomed us warmly and even left us a bottle of wine! She was very responsive and quickly helped us rectify a problem we had when the heat and hot water went off on our last night. The houseboat was a charming and comfortable place to stay while visiting family nearby. We would happily stay there again!
Ellen made us feel very welcome. Had a bottle of wine for us and went to great lengths to make us feel at home. Spent a lot of time orienting us to the boat. Left information about marina contacts, emergency contacts and local attractions. Went out of her way to find out about nearby tennis facilities that were of interest to us. Neighborhood was OK with good restaurant within walking distance. Working marina with other houseboats, sailboats and motor boats. Good view of the harbor.
Boat was nice with comfortable master bedroom, great AC, nice kitchen, loft and rooftop deck. Enjoyed our stay.
Ellen was incredibly communicative and met us at the house on arrival. The boat is big, air conditioned, very cozy and has a great view! It is much bigger than the photos show. Everything was perfect! It was the most relaxing part of our trip and we enjoyed coffee on the deck in the mornings! We loved our access the Louie's for dinner and made it there for Thursday night Lobster special! We also made a day trip to the South Hamptons after the rain and floods with no problem. Very easy drive. Also got the scoop from a local on the laundromats in town. The house/boat made our trip exceptional rather than a hotel. So nice!!
Ellen was a fantastic host! She was there when we arrived and made sure that we were comfortable. The boat is a great retreat and a very unique experience. This was a combination work & vacation trip. My wife and I surprised our adult kinds with this adventure and all had a great time.
Everything was perfect. The boat was very charming and comfortable. Ellen was a lovely host and treated us as personal guests. We had a lively stay.
We had a wonderful stay at Ellen's boathouse. It was incredibly charming and comfortable, from the second we arrived until the moment we left! Ellen was attentive and helpful throughout the entire process, and didn't even mind our phone calls throughout the trip with small questions. To top it off, she even left us a beautiful bottle of wine and maps of the area to get us started on our weekend.
We absolutely cannot wait to return!
The houseboat was awesome. Couldn't have asked for a better location to access this area of Long Island. Spectacular views of the bay. Water taxi will pick you up at the house and take you anywhere in the bay.
I would definitely stay here again. Ellen was a great host with excellent communication. The house was clean and had everything we needed.
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Ellen's houseboat was a perfect getaway. It was easy to get there from NYC, even without a car. It was quiet and relaxing when desired (breakfast/reading on the roof deck was especially nice) but there is also a lot to do during the day (you can take a water taxi to some little stores across the harbor, and the grocery store/cinema is just a 15 minute walk away). The houseboat itself is ADORABLE (very comfortable furnishings and the different levels for each room make it feel like you're in a tree-house on the water) and Ellen was a wonderful host (she looked up information about bike rentals for me and even left a book about bird watching, for the birds that hang out in the harbor). Great place to visit!
My stay on Ellen's houseboat was a totally enjoyable experience. I am a water lover and being able to look out the window or sit up on the deck and watch the boats come and go sure beats a motel room.
Ellen was forthcoming before my stay about repairs which were being made to the deck and leaky roof which did not change my mind about reserving the houseboat. She also left a bottle of nice chardonnay as a welcoming gift.
This was the first experience on airbnb for both Ellen and I, and I hope future experiences are as pleasant.
