Two young Professional
We had a great stay at Darrell's apartment in Dublin. Although we did not meet Darrell - his friend was onsite to greet us and show us around and provide all the information we needed. The apartment was clean and spacious and perfect for our group of four. It was a 10min walk to the Guinness Storehouse and easy walk/ tram ride to the main city centre.
The only slight niggle with the apartment (nothing to do with Darrell though!) was that it was extremely (and unusually) hot in Dublin when we arrived and so we had to sleep with the windows/doors open - it was hard to sleep as there is a lot of road noise at night! Also, the apartment was slightly hard to find - the best way is to park in the paid parking garage on Queen St and catch the elevator up - you can find the concierge and entrance easily that way.
Great location - close to public transportation, cafes, grocery store. The owner, Darrel, met us on arrival and was very helpful and friendly. He also made himself available to answer inquiries at any time during our stay. The apartment was clean and very adequate to our needs.
Great location and good communication. Really good area to be in. Really nice flat.
-Darrell was very helpful and pleasant to work with and went above and beyond in accommodating us
-Darrell had maps and a UK mobile phone for our use
-Apartment was located in a quiet area with a 15 min walk to Temple bar area
-Apartment was large and spacious
-Overall cleanliness: apartment was very dirty, bedroom carpets were dirty and heavily stained, garbage cans had not been emptied, leftover food was in fridge, coffee pot had old coffee in it, washing machine had a load of the host's laundry in it
-Accessibility issues: a number of light bulbs were burnt out, the coffee pot had a shattered top rim (dangerous), bathroom had no bath mats, shower head was broken and needed to be held with one hand while showering
-Overall living conditions: the hosts live here full time and move out during your stay, hence there are personal effects throughout the apartment and has a very 'lived in' feel. The beds were uncomfortable with very little padding and you could feel all the springs.
-Host said the apartment was freshly cleaned, but we could not see any recent cleaning beyond a superficial wipe down
We had booked this apartment for 7 nights and ended up finding other accommodation for the remaining 6 nights.
Darrell was a very nice host, showing us around like a tour guide! The apartment is very well located, about 10mn walk from Temple bar...and close to the Guinness brewery as well.
Quiet and comfortable with an ideal location.
Positive points :
-The apartment is well located, it is only 15 min away by walking from Dublin city centre (Temple street...).
-Warm welcome from Darrell which offered us to contact him anytime if needed
-Spacious and well furnished apartment
Negative points :
-The appartment was really dirty, we did not even dare walking barefoot on the floor. The carpets in the bedrooms were disgusting, the floor in the kitchen and bathrooms was sticky and gross, there was a used band-aid in one of the showers, the sink was left with pieces of dirt... We really regret sleeping in this place and we even though to leave and rent an hotel room for the second night.
In conclusion, this apartment was really not worth paying 300 euros for the weekend.
Darrell was more than willing to facilitate an exceptionally early arrival. His apartment/flat was well situated to Temple Bar and all central Dublin attractions. His spacious apartment handled our 4-person party with ease.
Darren and his partner were perfect guests, very clean, super organised&tidy , easy to communicate n everything went smoothly from check-in through check-out. They tread home as theirs. I would recommend everyone to host them. Don't think twice!
Super guest ! Cool , quiet and clean ... He knows how to respect feelings of other people as well ! I recommend DJ without any hesitation to any host ;)
