Mosaic artist living in the heart of the city.
Gail is a great host. Her creativity is evident in every corner-- and yes, the shower is amazing (large, with beautiful mosaics). But what I appreciated most was the quiet, and the privacy. This basement apartment has a separate entrance, and the neighborhood is residential (yet is only a block or two from coffeeshops, restaurants, yoga studios, and lots of action). The bedroom is set back from the front of the house (which means it does not receive sunlight-- but I actually found that restful, and sleeping in is sometimes a good thing!). And best of all, it is QUIET. I would recommend this to singles and couples-- terrific location, less than 10 minutes from the Metro, lovely street, calm room.
My friend and I were in DC for a few days to do some sightseeing. We had a great stay at Gail's. The space was as pictured and the neighborhood was wonderful. There were lots of bars/restaurants within walking distance, as well as a supermarket in case we needed some small things. We were able to access the bus across the street, which took us to the metro or directly to the sights. The space was also clean with linens provided. As someone who frequently gets cold, a heater was also available for our convenience. I would definitely stay with Gail again!
Well, it was a great location for the event I attended. Charming and private room. A very nice place, one I hope to come back again to. Thanks Gail!
Gail was super awesome. The place is really comfortable and the check in was so easy and quick. Great location :)
Gail's place is fabulous! Great location in Adams Morgan, near many restaurants, and within a few minutes walking distance of buses (to the Mall and around the city) bikes, and the metro. It's also an 8 minute walk from the zoo! It was really nice to spend time in a DC neighborhood, we enjoyed walking around in the evenings. The apartment is great, very private and clean. Excellent bathroom with a cool shower and mosaic, and a comfortable bed. We met Gail while checking in, and she was kind and chill, and we felt very at home. I loved staying here, and hope to return should I find myself in DC again!
Stayed for 2 nights. Gail was helpful telling us how to get around DC. The entrance was a little messy but the room was clean and bathroom was clean as well. There was construction done next door and we could hear Gail's family walking around upstairs but it was very quiet during bedtime.
Response from Gail:
I guess you missed that you had to walk thru my studio..sorry about the "messy" part; but I work better with all my 'stuff' around me
We enjoyed our stay with Gail so much. The space was very comfortable and the shower is lovely. You are walking distance from great food and nightlife. You are also very close to the national zoo and museum. Make sure to visit the Hillwood museum and gardens, we happened to stumble across them and it was one of our favorite parts of the trip.
Gail's place is a hideaway hotel suite; you get an entire basement with bedroom, a mini-kitchen (microwave, fridge, tea/coffee, mugs and utensils) and bath. It's on a quiet street half a block from a neat commercial area, with cheap ethnic restaurants and good transit connections.
Our stay at Gail's home was very nice! We enjoyed the privacy of the space and the lovely mosaic in the shower. The walk to the metro was not very far and there were lots of good restaurants around. Gail also provided us with a parking pass, which was very helpful in D.C. We would definitely recommend this home!
Not only is Gail a great host, she is also SO nice!!!!! I've been so fortunate to stay with her several times now and I will continue to seek out her space when in DC! GREAT space, convenient location, and the shower is the best ever!
