I am married and have lived and brought up my children in the village of Hornton. I am a part-time children's television producer/director.
My wife and I stayed here for one week in October 2013. We found the house to be charming and in a lovely setting (the village is stunning and very much reminded me of my childhood). The room was well apportioned and spacious, and the inclusion of a TV in the room was a very nice touch indeed! The bathroom was clean, large and private, and having a bath was a luxury. Annie and her husband were welcoming, affable and incredibly helpful. We would be very happy to stay again and would heartily recommend others to stay with Annie.
Staying in this ancient Hornton farmhouse was a wonderful experience. Ample, private space upstairs including a huge separate bathroom. Annie and Mike were the perfect hosts, and Annie's delicious breakfasts kept one running through most of the day! The village is like the postcard of the small, tranquil English one I'd had in my mind. Very convenient to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, too. All in all, a perfect choice if I do say so myself!
Spent only a week and felt right at home from the very first day. Very nice couple with intriguing stories to tell from their extensive work in Television, letting out a modern, comfortable and quite spacious double room incl. adjacent bathroom (exclusive use) on the top floor of a converted farm house providing all desirable amenities in an idyllic and charming surroundings (Oxfordshire countryside). Perfect for those seeking a respite from the hustle and bustle of a hectic city life.
We had a lovely stay in a clean, fresh, spacious room and a very smart bathroom. Picturesque scenery in an attractive rural village, and the host and hostess were warm and welcoming. We will definitely be staying there again! My husband and I very much enjoyed the peace and quiet, plus the delicious breakfast we had the next day cooked on a traditional Aga by our lovely hostess!
A memorable September stay for all good reasons: overwhelming hospitality and classic English village context: well worth the detour.
We had a wonderful 5 star experience at Annie's beautiful home! What a friendly welcome and a hugely enjoyable chat in the morning over a sumptuous breakfast prepared in the Aga. The room and bathroom were so comfortable and clean. We're only sorry we weren't able to stay longer as we would have liked to have spent time wandering around the historic village, but we feel lucky that unexpectedly we found late availability for such a special place.
Annie is a warm enthusiastic person who made us feel most welcome from the time we arrived. We loved their comfortable old farmhouse where we had a lovely big room with a queen size bed, TV, and newly renovated bathroom across the way all to ourselves.
Mike cooked us a delicious breakfast and we throughly enjoyed chatting with and getting to know both he and Annie.
They live in a delightfully quiet village with an excellent local pub which served delicious food from local produce, and there were other good places to eat within a short drive.
Mike and Annie are most interesting people with a great sense of humour. We felt once again that we had made new friends and would look forward to staying with them again.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay in this part of the country then this is a definite must. It is a combination of all the best things about Airbnb .... getting to stay in an interesting, beautiful house in a lovely location and having a really nice host to chat to. We really enjoyed talking to Annie, who like the best airbnb hosts made us a cup of tea on our arrival. It was everything your bog standard b and b is not.
There was a varied delicious breakfast. Our only regret was that we had only booked for one night. We will definitely return if we are near there again. Also the Dun Cow is an excellent pub in the village with excellent beer and very good, if a bit pricey food.
If I was to give a score on a 10-point scale it would be 20!
Annie (and not forgetting her husband Mike) is a lovely host, who lives in a charming village and matching farmhouse. But, more importantly, they are the most nice persons to talk to; we had interesting conversations with a good sense of humor!
To top it all, we were served a copious and well-prepared breakfast!
(and: as one of the previous guests remarked: the local pub offers delicious meals)
A lovely house in the lovely Cottswolds. I wish we stayed longer than one night. Annie was a lovely hostess and her husband made us a mean breakfast! We would go back any time.
