I am a local girl. My partner, Denba, is from Mali and we have a little daughter together. We have a small organic oranges and lemons farm, La Era de Oxox, and grow all sorts of other organic food too.
We are both travelled and educated individuals, fluent in English, Catalan, French, Bambara and Soninke and know some Italian and German. We will be happy to give you any advice you might need about the area (places to visit, museums, nicest bars and restaurants, hiking routes, fairs...).
The Ricote Valley, also known as the Moorish Valley, is a mountanious region of Murcia which has had for hundreds of years an irrigation system of cannals and watermills. The river Segura running all along the farm and peculiar mountains all around, allow us to enjoy sunny winters, warm springs and hot summers on the shade of green and fragrant spots, full of birds and flowers of all kinds. It is cool for one month a year only (December-January, and never under 0 degrees Celsius).
Murcia is one of the least touristic regions of Spain, and its Ricote Valley the most astonishing spot, though if you wish to visit the coast, it is only one hour drive to the beach. You will find people here are friendly and Murcian cuisine is wonderful to discover, and you will discover that the Ricote Valley is a trully oasis within Europe!.
If you do not drive, our local bus system is quite reliable, and we are happy to come and collect you sometime from any of the nearby village, and you will find very accurate directions to Ojós here and on our website..
Please do not hesitate to contact us with your questions. Be sure both the Cottage and the area will shock you for good!
