My fiance and I were moving to Portland from Honolulu and needed a place to stay while we found an apartment. Kris was very welcoming of our cat and 2 dogs! It's VERY hard to find any rental or hotel that will allow that many animals. In the end, we delayed the dogs' flight so it was just us and the cat, but it was a relief knowing we could have brought them if needed.
We flew in late and there was a mix up because there are 2 streets in named SW 57th Ave (about a mile away from each other). I felt bad having to call Kris at almost midnight, but she was very nice and we figured out that (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps had taken us to the wrong street (just make sure you have the house number and that won't happen).
Once we figured out the directions, we were there in a few minutes. The apartment was left unlocked and had the lights on so we could make our way in and settle down after the long trip. The apartment is attached to the backside of the main house. It's a great little place. We were there in January so it was too cold to spend anytime outside, but there's a nice big backyard and deck. We ran into Kris walking her adorable Corgi in the yard on the second day. Overall, I highly recommend it!
We had such a lovely time. The house was darling- just as it was shown in the pictures. The view out of the bedroom window was lovely to wake up to. Kris was so sweet to our dog. She had food and water dishes and a towel to wipe his paws. The extra touch really meant a lot. When we come back (which will be soon!) we will be sure to stay at Kris' again.
Kris was great. Though she was traveling, she was super responsive and able to work with our last-minute schedule.
The listing was accurate. The garden was really nice and gave the whole space a very open feel. The space itself was clean and airy and well maintained.
It definitely helps to have a car, though I rode my bike into Portland proper (and took public-transit back as the hills are kind of killer).
Kris is a wonderful host. Easy to communicate with + very welcoming. Her apartment is conveniently located near downtown + major roadways but was in a quiet neighborhood near the rose garden + hiking trails. I found the apartment to be just as it is pictured.. clean, open, + well equipped. Thanks so much Kris!
Kris was a warm, accomodating hostess, and her home is perfectly situated for quick city visits, with all the comforts of living at home. The small apartment attached to her house was cozy and just the right size for our small family. There is a kitchen/breakfast nook to cook in, so bring groceries if you want to have a home-cooked meal.
Her adorable dog, Ollie, provided excercise and entertainment for our 13 year old kiddo. Would stay her again!
This was our first stay on airbnb and was excellent. The place is essentially a home within a home with a private entry in the back. Kris kept her distance to give us a private vacation, but during our few interactions she was very friendly and accommodating. She also gave recommendations for great places to visit. I highly recommend staying here!
We really enjoyed our quick visit with Kris and John today. Glad they were able to hang out on our patio for awhile over a cup of coffee.
Great guests, neat, clean, tidy and super quiet when they arrived late in the evening. We are looking forward to another visit sometime soon.
Kris and John are a very nice couple. It was a short stay but we had a couple of interesting conversations. They are polite, quiet, gracious guests, they respected my place and left it clean and neat. They are welcome back anytime!
Easy, friendly and super clean guests. It was a pleasure hosting Kris and her family!
