The 5 most important things to me {after faith, family, and friends} in random order:
1. My farmers' market. I've been involved with one of our city's markets in some capacity for a couple of years now, but became the ice cream lady there this past year when I began making small batch artisan ice cream with local milk, cream, and local produce. It started all kind-of as an accident, and now it is an obsession!
2. The beach. Once a year my family makes our annual trek to the beach for some much needed R&R. The way we spend our days at the beach: Wake up, eat breakfast, go to beach until the sun goes down, eat a late dinner, sleep, get up and do it all again. There's nothing better than digging your toes into the sand and reading a good book. Well, besides letting the sound of the waves lull you to sleep for a little beachside siesta.
3. Other family excursions. A few years ago, for Christmas, we planned a family trip, to be taken during the spring. We enjoyed having a family experience as a Christmas gift so much better than spending a ton of money on stuff that we didn't really need to begin with. We have carried on this tradition, and have enjoyed sightseeing, trying local foods, visiting out of state family, and learning about different places and different people.
4. My community. I guess this one really goes hand-in-hand with the farmers' market, because my involvement with the market was what really introduced me to my community. Through the market I have enjoyed getting to know the different people in my community. I'm a "transplant" to Bowling Green, but through the market, and meeting people in my community, I feel like I'm finally "home". I have learned the value of diversity, and the strength of unity, thanks to my community.
5. Healthy living. This one is sometimes a struggle for me, but eventually I find my way back. When life gets hectic, it's easy to slip into convenience. But I am working on eating "real" food vs fake, processed food and fast food, and try to work out daily. I don't smoke and I don't like to be around smoke. I don't drink very often, but I do enjoy an occasional glass or two of wine. I don't mind being around others drinking, as long as they are not out of control.

When I travel, I feel like I'm pretty laid back, and the people I travel with usually are, as well. I want to be able to see the sights, but I also want to enjoy seeing them. I would go for quality over quantity just about any day. It stresses me to be on a tight schedule, especially while on vacation. Everyday life is hectic enough ~ vacations are meant to be enjoyed!
