The boat is an absolutely amazing experience. Besides the fact that the pictures give a really good impression what the boat looks like they also reflect the great love for details that can be found everywhere. The kitchen equipment (as well as the rest) is basic but functional. No kitsch, nothing is useless, no minor quality. Though, cooking a 10 (or even a 2 course was) course menu would be a challenge ;) We were furthermore wondering if a stay on a boat in November would be a rather freezing experience, but thanks to fireplace and air condition is was always cozy and warm.
At night is it absolutely romantic. Swans approach curiously and you can see the illuminated televison tower and of course the nearby factories which give the place an extra urban romantic touch.
Going downtown by using bvg takes at least 45 min, by car 30 min, this is the only aspect which might speak against a stay on the boat.
Last but not least Chris was one of the most helpful and best communicating hosts since I use airbnb.
I had a great week-long stay in Chris' apartment. I only communicated with Chris via airbnb, but he was very prompt in replying to my messages and provided clear and detailed information to my enquiries. His brother, Oliver, met me with the keys and took the time to show me through the apartment and answer many of my 'first-time to Berlin' questions. The apartment is well represented by the photos on the site; it was very clean, comfortable, secure, in a quiet area, with a kitchen suitably equipped for self catering, and had excellent wifi. No unwelcome surprises.
I also rented a bicycle from Chris and Oliver for the week, which turned out to be the best decision I made. I spent most of the week cycling around and feel this is not only a healthy and convenient mode of transport but the best way to see Berlin (but if you're a first timer in Berlin, take a map with you!)
Very nice boat at a very quit place but close to the heart of Berlin. Very contemporary design and comfort. Good beds. Very warm welcome by Chris his brother. The fireplace was burning when we arrived and we found orange juice in the fridge. A very special place to stay in Berlin.
The flat is very nice and pefect equipped. Central area, close to the S and U-bahn, tram-stations.
Chris's brother, Oliver; was the perfect host, always available for us.
Sehr angenehme Wohnung in angenehmer interessanter Lage in Prenzlauer Berg. Zuvorkommender Gastgeber und besonders interessant die Möglichkeit hauseigene Fahrräder benutzen zu können. Damit ist Berlin erkunden noch viel spannender und geht weniger in die Füße.
My partner and I stayed for a week in Chris's apartment in Berlin. We really enjoyed staying there. The apartment was equipped with the necessities and it's in a nice location. It's quiet but not too far away from everything and Prenzlauer Berg itself is a great area. Chris's brother met us with keys and was very helpful in letting us in quite early, as our flight had arrived early from Australia, after such a long flight it was a shame to not be able to check in earlier however great to be able to leave our bags and come back later in the afternoon once the apartment was ready. My only problem with the apartment was the wifi, it cut in and out all the time. We both run businesses so unfortunately on our holidays we can't just disconnect and we need to use the internet, I did check this before we booked and was assured it worked, which it does but there is not a steady connection, it drops out often so Skype will not work and normal searches are frequently interrupted. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
Everything as it looks!
My sister and I were in Berlin for 4 days and found Chris and Oliver's place to be exactly what we needed and what we expected it to be. The apartment is adorable, modern, and spotless, and served by two great hosts who were available to answer questions, etc. They also showed great flexibility when it came to renting bikes. We originally thought of biking around Berlin so we made reservations ahead of time for two bikes, but since it was our first time to the city, we realized, once we arrived, that it might prove to be a bit more difficult/stressful. So we nixed the idea last minute. The neighborhood is excellent and the building is about a 10 minute walk from the train station. The only reason why I didn't give this place a 5 star rating was due to a spotty internet connection. Thanks again Chris and Oliver!! Next time we're in Berlin, we'll be sure to try to rent the apartment again.
Very nice flat and wonderful host!
We arrived very late (1 am) and it was no problem for the check in!
We've also rented two bikes there for a very cheap price and had a great stay!
Chris and his family are very nice persons. Chris is a host too and left my apartment extremely clean.
