Megan and Brian's boat was amazing! My boyfriend and I had such a comfortable stay. The boat had so much beautiful character. It's exactly the experience we were looking for. Megan was a great communicator and supplied us with a detail list for the boat dos/donts. She answered every question I had and was very kind. She even recommended places for us to go!! We had a fabulous time and are definitely going to stay again in the future! I recommend it 100%!
Living aboard Megan and Brian's ship was such a delight! They provided full service from top to bottom. First, we met Megan at the harbor 8pm, where she was already waiting for us. She gave an overview of the ship (much needed, as this was our first time living aboard), and how to operate the toilet and stove. After she left it took us a while to adjust to the new environment.
First thing we noticed was the nice welcome card that they had left for us. As the live aboard night was in celebration of my boyfriend's completion of his PhD, they wrote that on the card. What thoughtful hosts!
The ship's interior is completely wooden. We loved the cozy feel that provided. Megan and Brian had sailed around the world for 4 years! One doesn't just sail the world. It's obvious, even from an untrained eye, how much thought they put into the place. They even built a small room/crib for their little daughter! I wish we had more time to have a beer over their adventures!
For the squeamish, the toilet is probably the point of concern. Don't worry - it's totally fine to use! Think airplane toilet, but with a manual pump to flush. If you don't want to go aboard, there's a facility close by on the harbor. The experience is really analogous to car camping.
Megan said people usually find the creaks and random noises from the boat to be disconcerting. We were prepared with earplugs, but found we didn't need them at all. The night was calm.
I took motion sickness pills and that just knocked me out/made me drowsy. My boyfriend didn't take anything and was ok.
We brought our own sleeping bags. You wouldn't have to do this as their bedding is really comfortable as well.
Overall, I strongly recommend this experience! My dirtbag boyfriend wants to eventually live aboard sometime in his life, so this was a first step!
