Response from Shira:
I simply asked if we could move the reservation back a day, and was told it would be no problem at all. Certainly this is the first I have heard that it was any trouble to change the reservation. Ths was my first time using airbnb and they always say to contact the host with issues, so that's what I did. It's not the case, as Alessandra has insinuated, that I was demanding or trying to go around airbnb in this case.
There most certainly was a language problem, for which the host is responsible. As I said, it was never even suggested to me during the booking process that there was any problem at all with moving the reservation back one day. Now the excuse is that we were kicked out early because the host had so much trouble organizing things and then that we had no communication from the host. I don't feel responsible for this mishap. I would have certainly found a different place to stay the last night had there been any indication that it was a problem or that we would have been kicked out early.
If the room smelled like smoke, it was from keeping the windows open just above the road where people were screaming and partying all night.
