Fantastic location, and a lovely spacious and clean apartment. I stayed here for three weeks and felt very much at home--and it would be a terrific place for just a quick stay too. It's a few minutes walk from major sites (Frari Church, Scuolo Grande, etc) and within the oldest parts of Venice, but also a place where ordinary people live and you can explore endlessly. Definitely try the Pasticceria Tonolo (famous for fritters and traditional pastries) just down the street. It's a fun shortcut to take the nearest traghetto (S. Toma) to San Marco island (a traghetto is a gondola-style boat that ferries passengers to and fro for 2 euros each way). Or it's a beautiful walk across either the Rialto or Accademia Bridges. If you want to head out for a stunning jog (or just a walk), a good route is to follow the nearby Fondamente Malcanton south, turn onto Fondamente San Basilio, then round onto Fondamenta Zattere which runs east along the wide seaside promenade on the south side of the island, all the way to a view of San Marco from the St. Maria of Salute Basilica. Oh - and I should add that there is great internet, fast and reliable the whole time I was there. I was also there in January, and the apartment is really nicely heated. The bedroom and living room are very bright in the day, but shutters keep them nicely dark at night; and it's on a quiet private alley that comes off a very pretty canal. My hosts were also gracious and really helped to orient me.
Die gepflegte Wohnung liegt an einem ruhigen Seitenkanal und ist mit allen Dingen ausgestattet, die man für einen angenehmen Kurzaufenthalt benötigt. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt!
I was not able to stay at the apartment due to some emergency
maintenance work. Mario found another apartment for me which
worked out very well. It had a fabulous view and was conveniently located with a water transport stop and a market 5 minutes away.
The whole experience was wonderful!
Great first experience with airbnb. Mario was quick to respond when I arrived in Venice. I was met by Giovanna at the vaporetto stop and she walked us to the apartment. She was very nice and helpful and provided us with maps of the city. Great place and wonderful view. Good location and short walk or waterbus stops.
Bell'appartamento molto pulito e ben tagliato in zona tranquilla ma ben collegata.
Thanks a lot for hospitable reception!
Flat is good situated for sightseeing in quiet and romantic location not far from railway station, it`s very comfortable and cosy apartment with many interesting and nice architectural books.
Many thanks for your lifting at the railway station cause it`s not easy to orientate in Venezia.
100% recommend staying at this apartment. Everything as pictured, and the hosts were very professional and friendly. We arrived a bit earlier than expected and still had to wait no more than 5 minutes at the bus stop. The apartment was lovely, spacious and fully equipped as well as located in a very convenient yet quiet location. Additionally, the various tips from restaurants to transportation were invaluable.
Mario and Giovanna were lovely hosts and their home was perfect for our trip to Venice! In the best location, the place was much bigger than the pictures showed and was very clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend! Thank you for having us!
We loved staying in Mario's apartment. The unit is on a cute little street (on a canal); it's quiet and easy walking distance around Venice. The best bit is there is only one bridge you need to cross with your luggage from Piazzale Roma and it's a small one - that is really important in Venice as you can end up staying somewhere that has many bridges to cross. Also it's great having Giovanna meet you at Piazzale Roma to show you where the unit is. The apartment is bigger and nicer than the photos make out; really comfy bed; fully equipped kitchen; comfy couch; great bathroom. Only gripe - the airconditioner is quite old and sometimes makes odd grating noises, including during the night (and after it's been turned off!)
Response from Mario:
Hello Jo, thanks for your comment, we know the AC is not the last model, we are planning to change it at the end of september.
Great apartment, close to everything from aeroport bus stop, to vaporetto lines, to Rialto's bocari with the best food in town, in a quite street away from the noisy turists' tracks. Fully furnished and equipped with everything you might need. Super nice people, good communication, even came to pick us up at the bus stop! Highly recommended and will definitely be there in our next visit to Venice.
