The PERFECT place in Salem to stay! The quiet residential area is within walking distance of all the main attractions in Salem proper and beyond. The back garden offers a picturesque, peaceful respite and the room is wonderfully quiet and very spacious. Loved that I could easily park my rental car in the private driveway. I'm looking forward to booking all of my future stays with Flora at this charming, safe and convenient historical home.
Flora was great. We arrived with other guests but she checked us in quickly, and even upgraded us to a larger room. She gave us a few recommendations for things to do and places to have dinner, and provided a map and directions. The room was stocked with an iron and hair dryer, and even shampoo, etc. It was like staying at a hotel. The house is historic and beautiful. The only down-side is that it is easy to hear movement upstairs and between rooms. Other than that, it was a great experience!
Lovely quiet room on a lovely quiet street in Salem, an easy walk from the Common and the town, with everything you need. Flora was a lovely host and the room was a joy to stay in.
Flora was there to greet us at the agreed upon time. She let us check in early and was available via text should we have needed to make any changes or ask about directions. The house the clean and well stocked with essentials you would expect at any hotel/B&B. The location was great. Very walkable to the train/bus depot, tourist attractions, downtown Salem, restaurants and drug stores. Our friends had a later flight and we weren't going to be there to let them in and Flora was great about being available to let them in. Overall, very agreeable and laid back host, great location.
Very lovely room with two beds and couch and chairs and nicely equipped bathroom -- wonderful shower (no tub) -- much nicer than a hotel room would be. Potential visitors must be very aware of the truth of the fact that it is on the third floor with very narrow staircase to get there -- and slippers rather than shoes must be worn inside this residence. Snacks and instant coffee provided -- so not really a B&B.
The apartment was nice, clean and well kept. The location was excellent and you can walk to a lot of the neighborhood attractions. I have a few dislikes: 1. The shower head was the detachable kind. It did not properly stay attached to the holding piece and kept falling down which was dangerous as it fell on my forearm and caused bruising. 2. It was very cold the days we had stood and the thermostat was not working properly. No matter how much we increased the temperature it only would go up a few degrees and then returned back to the normal setting. 3. We are in 2014. The televisions need to be badly upgraded. 4. The bathroom setup: The door to the bathroom had the lock reversed. Meaning you could not lock the bathroom from the inside but only on the outside. Also right next to the toilet was a door. The lock on this door was not working. This door lead to a washer and dryer that is used by the owner. Then this leads to the backyard. We felt a little odd about this for security reasons. 4. For someone who owns a bed and breakfast Flora was not welcoming and on the day we left it was even more upsetting. I had to return the keys which was indicated in the visitor's book on the kitchen table. So I had rang the bell. I waited and there was no response. I then called her phone and she did not answer. Then finally Flora opens the door. I say Hello and proceed to give her the keys and she says, "You could have let the keys inside the apartment" and then she shuts the door in my face. I was so embarrassed I did not even want to tell my husband right away because I did not want to upset him. Anyways it was a cute place but we will not be returning or recommend to friends or family.
Very tasteful room with adjacent bathroom, all comforts; beautiful area of Salem, MA.
Strongly recommend staying at Flora's
Lovely visit. Room is beautiful, bathroom large and clean. Got my exercise going up to the third floor, but that was just fine by me. Good off street parking, and Flora generously allowed my different family members who visited me to use the parking as well. Would definitely stay here again if I were in Salem.
Great place and wonderful host
Flora was a fantastic host. She knew a ton about the community and area in regards to what to eat and what to do and was super attentive to my needs.I couldn't have been happier with my stay. I'd go back again in a second.
