My name is Margret, I am from Vík, a small town in the south of Iceland. I have 5 kids and two gran-kids, one on the way. :) This is the first time we are welcoming guests to our home.
was a pleasure stay in this home, everything was perfect and the family is lovely. Im very happy with my staying in this home. I will miss you!
Margret and her family are very nice to stay with. They have a nice house (and grankids), with big rooms for guests. Also the beds were very good!!
The location of the house is very good, you can reach Keflavik airport and Reykjavik very quick.
I definitively recommend staying at Margrét's House :) She and her whole family are very lovely hosts. I was there with a female friend, we slept well in a comfortable bed and enjoyed coming home every evening, due to the warm welcome. The house is in a very quiet area and Reykjavik is very easy and fast to reach. Also the breakfast was great and well prepared. We felt as snug as a bug in a rug :-)
Very warm welcoming from margret and her family; That was exactly what we were expecting for . A very cosy room, and breakfast is included. Very great adress to go, and very nice person to meet! You can reserve at margret's house, you won't be disappointed.
Me, and my 2 daughters had a very nice stay in this cosy and well maintened house. We received a very warm welcome and putting an extra mattrass in the room was no problem. The place is close to the capital and is situated in a very quiet and peacefull environment. We all slept very well! Also if you're planning a day trip, like the golden circle, it's nice to return here in the evening and share your experiences with Margrét.
We had a fantastic stay with Margret and her family. In fact so good that instead of staying in the centre of Reyjavik for our last two days in Iceland we are going back to Margret's. Why? Because of the welcome, the wonderful Icelandic breakfast, the amazing view of the sunset over the sea from the upstairs terrace, the fact that the house was in the middle of the lava field and we could explore their botany and flora 50 m from the front door. But most of all because of her local knowledge. She had us on public bus trips all over the place and because she knew her way round the system she saved us a fortune. Over £150 on one trip alone. Don't bother with tourist information, just ask Margret and her daughter, Tina. And we laughed, we laughed and we laughed. We felt that on this trip, by staying with an Icelandic family we had touched Iceland's magic a little bit more.
Margret was a great host! She went above and beyond!
Margret was unfortunately not done with some renovations when we were due to arrive, so she set us up in a lovely room in Reykjavik instead (without charging us any additional amount). Although it is unlikely she'll do this again- I would definitely recommend staying with her. She was pleasant to speak with over the phone and took very good care of me and my friends even though she was unable to host us as planned... which to me indicates that she will take good care of any guest who walks through her door! In addition, she was very polite and extremely nice throughout our email, phone and text conversations!
