Our experience with Jen and Evan was wonderful. They were extremely welcoming and helpful, and Jen kept in touch during our vacation to make sure everything was going well and make suggestions.
The apartment, including the fantastic views from the unit as well as the rooftop, which is beautifully designed and maintained, was accurately represented on the website. It was what we expected.
The bagels and muffins available during the week were a much appreciated bonus to the rental. Also, the doormen were friendly and helpful.
The neighborhood was lively, but the streets were not swarming with people. We were out as early as 7 a.m. and back as late as 1 p.m., and the neighborhood always seemed safe.
My two sons and I stayed at Jen's apartment for almost 3 weeks and were very happy there. The nearest subway is on 33rd street - a short walk. The apartment itself was comfortable for the three of us. One of us slept on the sofa in the living room.
The facilities are great - gym, game room, laundry room and they even had breakfast in the game room M-F although we only managed to enjoy that one morning as we woke up late most of the time. The views from the apartment are great and even better from the rooftop. we managed to catch part of the July 4th fireworks display from the rooftop. The view from the rooftop is the Freedom Tower on one side and the Empire State building on the other side.
Jen was great at communication - she entertained all questions and was quick with her responses. We felt welcome even before we arrived. Although we have not met in person, her warm and caring personality came through. Evan, her boyfriend was really sweet. He saw us in and took us on a tour of the facilities and added his own recommendations for places to eat and visit to Jen's list and even offered to show us around Brooklyn! Jen emailed us often during the stay to see how we were doing. All the directions and details of the apartment were super clear so we had no need to call for help. We lived there as if we were long-term tenants. That's how comfortable we were.
The doormen were fine - no one gave us a hard time and it is true, you hardly run into anyone in the building so we did not feel uncomfortable coming and going. There are lots of small cafes, delis and a new supermarket within walking distance and we could order from many places via (website hidden). There's also a movie theatre round the corner so we caught a couple of movies when we wanted a quiet night. But Jen has Netflix so you can watch movies and tv series on call from home as well.
The area is lively at night so you can walk around at all hours without worrying about your safety. You can walk to Macy's, Grand Central, they are that close - it is in a great location.
The apartment is compact and comfortable and is perfect for three adults.
Thanks Jen and Evan for being the ideal hosts. You gave us a great first experience with airbnb.
My family and I stayed in Jen's apartment and had a great time. The location is perfect (very central) and the views from the apartment and the rooftop garden were even better! Jen and Evan were awesome hosts who were very responsive and catered to our needs. They even surprised us with some gifts as it was our anniversary during our stay in NYC. We stayed in the apartment with our 6 year old daughter and for her entertainment they even left out a board game for her to play with and some tips for child friendly restaurants.
All in all, we had a great Airbnb experience and would definitely stay in Jen's apartment again when visiting NYC.
I'll always refer to our long weekend in Jen's lovely apartment as the miracle on 34th street. Her one-bedroom apartment is small by Midwestern standards, but if you know NYC, it's fine. We found Jen is very helpful with information, and ready by cell and text with any questions. Her apartment is lived in; but clean and inviting. The key here is the VIEW. The bathroom is the only place in this apartment without a view. In addition to the views from the apartment itself, we enjoyed breakfast and lunch in the rooftop garden located two floors up. There might be other people living in this building, but we never heard anyone and we never saw anyone in the public areas. Except for the doormen, it felt like we had the place to ourselves. If we ever come back to enjoy a show in NYC, this will be the first place we'll try to book.
Jennifer stayed in my apartment for a couple of days and she was a perfect guest. I totally recommend her.
Jennifer was a guest at our loft for a little over month.
She is perfect in communication (before and during the stay) and she has an open personality and a great smile!
It was a pleasure to host het. The loft was left behind in a perfect state and she left us a nice note and a little present.
Jennifer was cool and flexible during the booking and check-in process!
Jennifer was nice. Great guests all around. Sorry it was so short of stay, would have liked to get to know Jennifer better.
As an airbnb host the best thing you can ask for is a guest who enjoys there stay - Jennifer was in perfect communication - left the place in good shape and enjoyed her birthday and the bayview - what else can you ask for - how about she left me a thank you bottle wine :)))) Got to love hosting ! Thanks Jennifer and Evan !
