My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We rented the chalet for the July 4th weekend to do some hiking in Green Mountain State Forest. The chalet was clean beautiful, private, and located on a quite country road. The kitchen was fully stocked with every kind of utensil and appliance you'd expect in your average family kitchen (just bring food). Sophia is an excellent and considerate host. My wife and I wlil most certainly be returning.
Sophia was a pleasure to work with. She went way out of her way to make it work for us at a busy time of year.
The chalet is spacious and well appointed, with a beautiful view.
I would definitely stay at Sophia's place again.
Great host, very easy to communicate with. Lovely place with excellent views of nature from the sun-filled front room. Very neat and clean. We really enjoyed being able to stay at this hideaway while we were at Wanderlust Yoga Festival in Stratton, VT. Sophia's place is great and she was very easy to work with!
An absolutely awesome house for a summer getaway! I went up with 5 other late 20s professionals for a weekend as we signed up to run the Mt Snow Tough Mudder (10 Mile obstacle course). We were just looking for a convenient place for a good nights rest before the event and some well deserved beers the night after. The house was perfect, clean and comfortable. The living room and deck are great, with awesome panorama views of the Green Mountains. Would definitely stay here again!
Sophia was very responsive throug email and txt messages throughout.
We visited the house during spring and it was a nice escape from the city. The house is well appointed for the two of us and can comfortably accomodate 6 people in its three bedrooms. It is nicely decorated, has a large deck overlooking a grassy field (and mountains in the distance) and has a backyard with a coal-powered BBQ. There was plenty of firewood to warm up during the colder spring nights.
The house is on a quite street with vacation homes. We saw only a handful cars pass by during our week-long stay. You can hear the distant buzz from highway 30 when outside (or when the windows open), but nothing to disturb the peace.
There are plenty of hikes nearby (mostly easy to moderate) and Sophia provides basic information/maps in the house. We recommend the railroad bed trails for an easy and rewarding stroll - there is a nice waterfall you can hike up to from the railroad bed if you want to add a little sweat to your stroll.
Please note that the cleaning fee does not cover taking the thrash out - you will have to take it back with you to the city.
Very clean, very quiet, not far from Stratton Ski Resort.
Sophia was super responsive and the communication with her was a pleasure.
Sophia is really friendly and helpful. She is responding always almost immediately. The communication was great
The house is really amazing. The area is quiet. It is good place to stay and rest! I love the fireplace.
The road. I was worry about the "dirt road" to the house after snow fall. The road was clean. it was no problem to drive and park car.
I would like to come back to the house again and I will suggest it to my friends. Amazing experience.
We had a great time at Sophia and John's ski chalet near Stratton. It has a large, well-equipped, eat-in kitchen, a large living room with a fireplace, tv, and windows looking west to Stratton (30 mins away). A rural setting, convenient (it's right between Brattleboro and Manchester). Only a 4-hour drive from NYC. Sophia and John are very accommodating hosts. 3 bedrooms (2 upstairs-on the main level). Highly recommended.
If we were to return to this area for skiing again, I would return to this place. I really enjoyed the place. Sitting in the living room at night with the fireplace going was fantastic - all snuggly and romantic. We had the bedroom with the queen room and we were cozy under the blankets. The bed had an extra feather mattress or something on it so the bed was comfortable and we were able to get a good night sleep every night. We were able to whip up breakfast and supper in the kitchen every day which was important to us and one of the reasons we selected this place. The chalet was impeccably clean with very clean bathrooms. That was so much appreciated by us as we have stayed in some less than clean houses.
It snowed quite significantly one night we were there. They plowed the road (AND the driveway - that was nice) right away and we had no difficulties getting out in the morning but we had a tough time getting back up the hill on our return that night. Once they put down sand/salt on the road later that evening we had no issues on our next return. Vermont really knew how to clean up after a storm.
Jamaica has a great cafe for getting speciality coffees and across the road was D&K Grocery Store which was a little country store that had a selection of groceries (everything we needed to top off what we brought) and a great selection of Vermont wine. On the main road right at the entrance to their chalet was the Dam Diner. We didn't eat at it but our friend did and he said their pie was fantastic and their prices reasonable.
You need to be careful about taking a bunch of showers in a row as you may run out of hot water. That only impacted one shower and we simply adjusted our schedule a bit for the rest of the stay. We had no issues with the temperature of the house but our friend found his bedroom to be a little cold for his tastes.
I spoke to Sophia on the phone before our trip and found her to be a friendly and gracious host. All-in-all a 5 star rating from me!
The reservation was canceled 16 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Sophia and John are great guests, considerate and tidy. We'd be delighted to welcome them back any time.
Anybody will be happy to have Sophia as a guest (and husband John too!), they are happy, sociable, active people that will make you want to wish they could stay longer. I definitely hope they will come back at my house again one day.
...and they will leave your place spotless too!
Sophia was respectful of our environment and took great care of our house.
You cannot have better guest. The communication was good, the house was left crystal clean.
I will be happy to host them again.
Wonderful guest! Recommend highly!
