There's nothing like living the life you've always wanted
We had a great time at the gamekeeper's cottage. It was cosy despite the cold outside and Carole and Kevin made us feel most welcome. Kevin is a great raconteur and regaled us with stories of meeting Fidel Castro and Heile Selassie. The grounds down to the lake are beautiful and we were accompanied on our walks by the friendly dogs. The house itself is a complete one-off, decorated with animal skins. Thanks for a lovely stay.
We stayed in Carole's cottage for two nights and our only regret is we weren't able to stay longer! The house is uniquely decorated, very pretty, clean, comfortable and located in beautiful countryside. Carole was an incredibly warm and welcoming host who did everything she could to make our stay a perfect experience. We felt like her neighbours!
The house is adjacent to Lough Derg so we spent most of our time exploring the scenic drives around the lake, visiting small farmer's markets in the local villages and the friendly local pub too.
The bedrooms were a little chilly at night but the huge fire downstairs was wonderful after a long day of exploring the countryside (and local pub!).
We'll definitely be back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone.
We had a lovely and relaxing stay and ab extremely warm welcome! Its a hidden beautiful gem in County Clare.
Thank Yoyu Alison, We look forward to seeing you here again!!
Carole and Kevin
What to say about this beautiful place? Carole and Kevin have done a stunning job on renovating this farmhouse cottage -- it keeps many of the features of an old Irish farmhouse while being stylish at the same time. The cottage was well equipped with a wood burning stove to take the chill off cool evenings. Carole and Kevin were a great hosts who provided excellent directions to their lovely quaint country farm stone cottage! We also enjoyed a walk in the local lake which is very close. The setting is rural but close to facilities. I would recommend this accommodation without reservation. A beautiful cottage set in a wonderful location. Will definitely be back.
Thank You Sergi, we really enjoyed meeting you all and look forward to your return! Stay a little longer next time eh??
Carole and Kevin
We've had a lovely time at Carole and Kevin's cottage: we've had a warm welcome, the house was really nice and cosy and we' ve appreciated the fire lighted when we arrived! Carole was very helpful. Thank you again!
There are simply no words to describe what a fabulous stay that we had with Carole and Kevin. The Gamekeeper's Cottage simply screams Hemingway. When we arrived (late) everything was just so.
The kids rode bikes for hours around the countryside. I was able to relax and read or wander out into the court yard and chat with Kevin, Carole and their friends.
The farmers market in Killaloe was a real treat and groceries were just a short walk across the bridge from there.
It's clear they're putting their hearts into this place. Visit once and you won't want to leave.
Be sure to confirm directions with Carole before you set out -- googlemaps has a nasty sense of humor.
Carole and family were very peaceful and for some reason or other our paths did not cross during their stay. They left the place clean and tidy and tidy and I would not hesitate to recommend them as guests.
