Please check my (website hidden) account and/or my (website hidden) page to discover that I'm an upstanding, honest human being. I was raised in Aspen, graduated from Colorado State University, and am a writer and editor for a Colorado college.
I recommend not staying at any place Dave Young rents. The place sounded great, but I'm appalled at his misrepresentations that he wrote about in his review of me and our friends, the couple who stayed there. I'm amazed at all the good reviews he has, and I checked those out before I paid for a night at his place. But since he's chosen to be so negative in this review, it's important I set the record straight. I have never had anything but great experiences with Air BnB; he is my first upsetting, negative experience. Please don't make the same mistake I made. Point by point:
1. I had extensive communication with Dr. Young prior to the date of our stay, including my email to him the day after our scheduled stay to let him know I had a medical emergency (I fainted on Feb. 24, was diagnosed with a multinfection, was put on two types of meds and am still recovering 3 weeks since). I communicated my medical emergency to Dr. Young - he is well aware of this.
2. He never once mentioned that checkout time was 8 a.m. until the night of our stay; he emailed me that info at 6 p.m. At that point I didn't have access to email and didn't get his message. I became ill about 8 p.m. that night when we arrived in Denver for a concert, and did not check email or cell messages. The next morning, he began calling and emailing me at 7:30 a.m. after we cut our trip short and returned home from Denver (about an hour trip); I never set foot in his apartment. I was quite ill at that point and communicated that to him. I paid him in full even though we never stayed in his apartment.
3. From the very first communication I had with Dr. Young, I told him there would be a second couple with us staying at his place. Again, he knew this; this was not a surprise. I did not simply invite unwanted people to his apartment like he is insinuating; I made it very clear. He also advertises his place accommodates four people.
4. Dr. Young showed up at 8 a.m. the next morning at his apartment and our friends were naturally taken aback that he wanted them to leave that early (I've never heard of an 8 a.m. checkout in any type of lodging). I was not there and cannot attest to what went on except that our friends are kind, responsible people and asked to be given a couple of hours to leave the rental, (10 a.m. seems reasonable). The towel comment is just gross and I have no control over it as I've never been to his place. So much mean-spiritedness. Sad. I choose not to be around people like this. I know other Air BnB experiences will be better...I'll be staying at another place this week, and I'm hoping for the best for everyone concerned.
