This apartment is very convenient and as described. Arrival and departure was easy arranged . The Italian restaurant at the corner of 7th and 2Ave is very authentic and delicious , pay cash only. Time square is a bit of a distance therefor I recommend the subway ,go to 2Ave take a left on 8th street and walk until you see AStor on your right or a bit further you will run into 8th street subway on your left.IF you stay a while get the 7 day ticket $30. "Stomp" a great Musical is right on 2 Ave , you turn right from 7th street and it is fun to see .The apartment could use a little Tlk.
Fantastic location. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Short stroll to Astor Square to catch the Metro. For walkers Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, West Manhattan (the high-line) and Central Park all accessible within 1-1/2 hours with plenty of interesting routes through different neighbourhoods. All these places are also accessible by Metro/Bus. Unit great for 2 people but be prepared to walk up 4 levels. Comfortable, clean and functional. We were met on time and were settled in very quickly. Thanks Mindy and Dawn.
Yes, it is one of the best streets in New York as it is in the East Village. Bohemian it used to be, and it still has the flair of it. You walk out the door and everything is at your fingertips: Starbucks coffee, the best Ramen noodle store, a whole Indian Restaurant street, Moroccan couscous, vegan delicacies, Ukranian oddities, cinemas, superb sushi restaurants, famous old style Italian bakeries, and the list goes on and on. You can also walk to other neighborhoods without any sweat. Union Square is close at hand, a 10 minutes walk max, SoHo, NoHo, even for the West Village I didn't bother taking the subway. But if you want to ride the metro, there are convenient stops close by as well.
Mindy's NY apartment is a small but very cute oasis that will feel instantaneously like a little home away from home. The bedroom has a comfortable bed and glorious gorgeous deep toned red walls. Everything was very clean and exactly as described. If I need an apartment again in New York I would not hesitate a second to check out Mindy's flat first. It was a perfectly comfortable stay and felt exactly what we hoped for - being back in the city without feeling like we were just passing through, but belonging. Thank you Mindy!
We loved the location of Mindy's apartment. Mindy was easy to deal with. Dawn, the house manager, met us and she ensured our arrival was successful.
The apartment was clean, quaint, and the bed was comfortable.. Each time the heater came on in the apartment, however, there was a loud tapping noise in the bedroom. This noise woke us up repeatedly and we didn't sleep well during our stay. Also, the apartment was up 4 flights of stairs.
Given the price we were charged, we would have hoped to have slept better. .
This has been a good experience. The apartment is ideally located, (email hidden)ly neighborhood (but I have been able to sleep well with my usual earplugs), not far from Central Park and Grand Central Station and, which is great for me, in a short walking distance to Whole Foods. The apartment itself has a nice decoration and is in a charming building. What I liked very much was that it gets a lot of sunlight in late afternoon.
A minor contention would be that the apartment was not so clean (I would recommend bringing your own towels), which, in comparison with the high housework fees (150$ for me), was a little disappointing. Also, one of the ligthers of the gas stove was off when I got in the apartment, which made the stove leak a little bit of gas (it is easy to light again by removing the top of the stove).
I did not get answers to my e-mails concerning these issues, and maybe Mindy, who I did not meet in person, did not get them (I did not insist, these were not major issues), as she as been overall caring and responsive by e-mails and texts. She seems to be a very nice person.
To put it in a nutshell, the apartment was great for my use for one week and it was a good experience!
I recommend NY in spring, but as always, the city that never sleeps. ABC is a great location, depending of course of where you wanna go, but it is easy to get everywhere.
My two sons and I stayed at Mandy's apartment in Jan2014. We enjoyed being in the exciting part of NY. Mandy was very responsive and helped me with the TV and a blown fuse!
Not within her control are the noise from the streets during the night, and also the neighbour having a party on Friday night!

Mindy was a pleasure to host at our wine country house. The house was left in absolutely perfect condition, and all check out procedures were followed to a 'T'. I would happily recommend her to any future Airbnb hosts! Thanks Mindy!
