The suite at Casa las Ranas was a beautiful place to stay during our visit to San Pancho. It was clean, quiet and exactly as described. David was a wonderful host, greeting us and giving us extra time to check out.
Gracias para todo David... Hasta pronto!
David was an excellent host. The home was as described, was clean and pleasant. It is probably about six blocks from the beach in San Pancho, but a short walk over a pedestrian bridge brings you to the main street, which has several good restaurants and many shops. We also drove to the near by beach of Lo de Marcos, which is delightful. There we were able to park closer to the beach, so it was a short haul with our chairs, umbrella etc. to the beach. We had a wonderful time.
The apartment was great and David was very kind and helpful. Nice kitchen, bathroom, lots of hot water, nice balcony, and close to town and not too far from the beach. I would definitely recommend staying here.
We very much enjoyed our stay - the space was exactly as pictured and had everything we needed, including, good water pressure and lots of hot water on cool evenings after a day at the beach. It felt good staying here: the space is sweet, with a nice vibe and we especially appreciated the 6L bottle of water that was supplied. David was the perfect host: he was very good at communicating with us before we arrived, and in person he is super simpatico - very laid back, warm, welcoming, attentive yet unobtrusive. **Definitely recommend and hope to come back -Gracias David!!
My wife and I had a great time staying at Casa Las Ranas! David and his wife were wonderful hosts. We really enjoyed getting to know them and appreciated their advice and support during our trip.
The bungalow was clean and perfect for two. The walk into town was very pleasant and we did it several times each day. I can't really add anything to all the previous glowing reviews for David and Casa Las Ranas. This is a special place and we can't wait to return! And we're crossing our fingers hoping San Pancho never ends up like Sayulita!
David was a thoughtful host, emailing me multiple times to make sure I got the direction to his house and picking us up at a nearby gas station when we arrived. He provided us with very good local info on where to eat and visit. The bungalow is just as described and pictured. We loved the location of the house, being just a few minutes walk away from the main road but completely tucked away from the noise and activities. The street is pretty and neighbors friendly, and we enjoyed the view of the hills from the balcony. The AC was wonderful to have for mid-day naps! We had our 2 year old with us and had to be extra cautious on the balcony, so those traveling with little kids may want to book the lower bungalow instead of the upper one. But the casa and the host were both great and we'll definitely book with David again.
The apartment was perfect for a couple! It was nice and clean and quiet, minus the usual sounds of Mexico. The apartment is one of three that could be rented in this complex, which includes the main house. David, the owner, was not staying there until half-way through our stay. He and his wife were very accommodating and made sure we were comfortable.
The apartment is about 1/2 mile from the beach, which also is the way you have to go through town. IT takes around 15 minutes to get to the beach. It was an easy walk, and we felt safe the entire time. We took a bus to San Pancho from PV, and did not have a car during our stay. This was totally fine and we never needed a car during our trip. There are enough taxis everywhere to get to Sayulita or wherever. Though the apartment said it has wifi, it never worked for us. David said he is working on getting the wifi to work better. Just an heads up if you really need consistent wifi from the apartment. If not, there are places in town to get connected and check email, etc.. The only other big thing the apartment was lacking is a good water dispenser. It would be great to have a large 5 gallon water jug in the apartment on a stand or with a pump. We had to buy our own pump for the water. The only other thing lacking was there were no extra towels, sheets or blankets for the beach; or even some extra hand towels for the kitchen. It will probably start to accumulate some of this stuff, but for light travelers, we didn't have any towels to use other than the two provided.
Overall we had a great time and would definitely stay here again. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook some dinners and a couple of breakfasts, including a small coffee maker. We had the upstairs apartment, which is private and has great views of the surrounding countryside. San Pancho is a great little town and is worth visiting!
We loved the space, and the location. It was comfortable and quiet. About 10 minute walk from the beach.
Would absolutely stay there again.
We did not feel welcome at David's. We arrived in San Pancho at 7pm after a long day (our 2 year old son was sick). David asked us to call Mayra, his property manager, when we get to town in order to get directions and the key. We tried calling her and David on the way to let them know our ETA, and then again repeatedly after our arrival, but we could not get ahold of them. We finally heard from David after spending more than two hours waiting on the street, and instead of apologizing for the miscommunication (or even just asking us about our day), he demanded that we pay him an additional fee to compensate him for our "late arrival". Neither his profile nor our previous communication mentioned a cutoff time or a fee. He also repeated this demand during our stay, which as you can imagine did not make us feel comfortable.
Regarding the bungalow itself, it is cute and as pictured. We liked having a kitchen, and the bottle of water in the fridge was a nice touch. The bungalow is located outside of town (different exit by car), but there is a footbridge over the river to get there as a pedestrian without having to walk on the highway. The compound is gated but unless you have a very high SUV do not try parking inside; your car will get heavily scraped.
Do not expect Wi-Fi or A/C even though they are listed as amenities. Another guest was kind to give us the Wi-Fi password but it was useless since the Wi-Fi signal did not reach the bungalow on any of our four devices (you have to stand outside, on the stairs of the main house in order to be able to connect, and even then the connection is slower than dial-up). This might be OK if you're very patient and just need to check your email once a day but we were on a working holiday and could simply not get work done that way. We were also not given access to the A/C remote so we were unable to turn it on or off.
The floors were dusty and one of the two towels was dirty (it was hanging on the shower rod and smelled like aftershave). We mentioned these issues to David but he did not acknowledge them or offer us a new (website hidden)-weekly cleaning (mentioned on the profile) didn't happen either.
All in all, David's place has potential in the right hands, but given our experience, we did not feel at home and would certainly not stay there again.
This time our trip was short but we wanted to spend a few days on the beach away from the busyness of PV. We found the perfect place. The apartment is not big but has everything you need. If we had stayed longer we would have used the kitchen but there was just to many tempting restaurants. We met David at the gas station and he lead us to his hideaway. Although David was staying in the house and another guest was in the casita below us, it all felt very private. Initially we thought it was a bit far from the beach but the other guest convinced us to walk and we were surprised at the easy and enjoyable 10 min stroll. The car stayed parked for the rest of our visit. it really is a great location, away from the noise of town, loved listening to the frogs (i think they were frogs
The experience couldn't be better. It beats any hotel and the place is much better than downtown. If you are looking for a place to stay in San Pancho, this is certainly it. Everything is clean and organized. David and her wife were great hosts, very friendly and helpful.
You will have a great time, San Pancho is a little paradise that has kept its soul... David and his family are very nice people and will receive you with warmth and spontaneity. I completely recommend you stay with them!
An exepcional place near the beautiful San Pancho Bay. David always will be there to receive his guests the best way. Highly advisable!
