So weird I have to fill this out.
It was my first experience with Airbnb and I tried to treat the house as it was mine. Caroline was a really good host: she answered very quickly both by phone or by email. The house is really nice, full of great books and disks. The location is great: close to the center, lively neighbourhood and walking distance from shop.
Nice apartment. Pretty much as advertised. Owner stayed elsewhere. Would recommend.
Caroline's was great! Clean and comfortable and very convenient location. She was efficient and friendly.
Great location! The apartment was nice and clean - and Caroline was very dependable. We'll def. recommend the place to others visiting DC.
Good location, but the place itself was a bit unkempt. Was dusty (made my throat hurt during my stay - i think the ceiling is flaking?); bathroom sink didn't drain; no dish soap; bath towel was bleach-stained; bedding consisted of just a sheet. The part that killed me, as I was there for work and needed my AM jolt, was that she didn't have a coffepot. Even motels have coffeepots!
I live in a small studio in DC so I don't have space for guests. Instead of getting my visiting friend a hotel room, I booked Caroline's appt and it was wonderful. I think my friend enjoyed staying there as much as she did her site-seeing!
The host canceled my reservation 10 days before arrival.
wonderful place, perfectly located , very clean and charmimg, , the hostess was very kind and caring. i do recommend it. thank you so much caroline!!!!!
Caroline's flair for life is relected in her personal space. Bright colors and rich world culture define her place. The vibrant neighborhood is a further expression of this multicultural openess.
We found the bed very comfy, the kitchen minimal, but adequate, the neighbors a little noisy but friendly, everything was very clean and well attended. The overall experience just right for a juicy slice of one of the most alive places in our changing world.
Lovely place, great host, would definitely stay there again. The apartment is in a really nice area of DC, on a quiet street. The studio is nice, exactly like the pictures!
The only tiny inconvenience was that the building itself was not as quiet as I thought it would be, based on the other reviews I read earlier (I could hear neighbours upstairs and on the corridor, when I was trying to go to sleep) but that was not a major issue.
All in all, I was happy with staying at Caroline's place!
You're visiting DC. You want to stay somewhere convenient, within short walking distance of restaurants, shops, nightlife, bus, and metro, but you don't want to stay somewhere noisy, run-down, dirty, or unkempt. A place with style would be great. Comfort? Check. Caroline's place is your ticket. She takes immaculate care of her apartment. Surfaces are spotlessly clean, and the decorations are like eye candy. There are plenty of fresh clean towels, the kitchen sink has a filter built in (those who live in DC, like me, know how crucial this is!), and all the furniture is colorful, fun, and functional. In short, it's an apartment that will make you happy, let you relax from the moment you arrive, and give you that at-home feeling for the duration of your DC visit.
(Not to contradict anyone frivolously, but I think one brief word is merited to address N's review, only because it seems to contrast with what N told me when I picked up the keys from her after her week-long stay at Caroline's this March (2012) (Caroline was unfortunately unable to collect the keys herself, so as a neighbor, I was happy to help out). Not only did N tell me she loved Caroline's apartment, but she also asked me if I thought she'd be able to stay there for two weeks in April. If she hadn't stained Caroline's sink and towel with hair dye (we managed to clean it up eventually), rifled through Caroline's wardrobe, and left her dirty dishes in the sink, I know Caroline would've gladly welcomed N back. Maybe N's review reflects a bit of spite?)
