I stayed at Lara and Jon's place for a week in June, 2014. The room was just huge (bigger than it looks in the photo), with an en suite bathroom. The hosts were absolutely lovely. Morning coffee and granola was much appreciated. I highly recommend this airbnb place!
Lara and Jon were great hosts with a beautiful apartment. The space was private and clean and located in a great area downtown.
Lara and Jon were great hosts. They are very interesting to talk with, maintain a good balance of privacy and friendliness, and they have a beautiful apartment.
I was in Louisville for a quick work trip. I met only Lara, but communicated with Jon - they were both so thoughtful, and accommodating of my travel schedule. And the room and apartment are just lovely, and the place is wonderfully appointed for guests - plenty of fresh towels, toiletries, and other thoughtful touches. I can't say enough good things - I will definitely want to stay with Lara & Jon again when business again brings me to town!!!
My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights in Louisville & we had a wonderful, relaxing stay. Lara was out of town so Jon was there to greet us and get us checked in. We didn't realize during the drive that we changed time zones & Jon was totally accommodating. We were greeted with cookies and (a gluten-free!) banana bread! Their location is perfect to get around downtown & was walking distance from the event we were working at the convention center.
Parking was convenient & they provided a parking pass for the adjacent parking lot. Their apartment is spacious & bright- going back to a hotel room is going to be a bummer! Hanging out with a sweet pup like Zelda made it even easier to relax after a long day. We made use of the well-equipped kitchen, they had gluten-free options available, & Jon even showed my boyfriend how to use a french-press! He made us feel like we were staying with friends.
There are plenty of food options within walking distance & a nice park space in front of the public library across the street. Our first airbnb experience was perfect, we'll be happy to stay with Lara & Jon whenever we are in Louisville.
My girlfriend and I had a great stay on Lara and Jon's. Their friend, Arlene, checked us in; she was incredibly nice and helpful. Everyone was highly responsive for the booking and checking in process. The room was comfortable. It had a window A/C unit, but it cooled the room well. The private bathroom was nice as well. Jon was at work most of the time we were there and Lara was out of town, but we did enjoy the short interaction we had with Jon. We appreciated being offered beer, coffee, and various delicious breakfast items. Their dog, Zelda, is also very well behaved. Perfect location in downtown Louisville with a short walk or Lyft ride to most places. Parking is right next to the building.
Staying at Lara & Jon's was great. The room is nice and quiet. The bed was awesome. Great place to write some scripts.. (I did finished a script when I was there). :) Would love to come back to Louisville next time and stay here. Had great conversation with them.
In terms of the check-in process, Lara was flexible with the check-in time and available to help us get acclimated to the apartment and area. Lara and Jon (her roommate) were generous and gave us ideas on where to walk and what to visit and eat in Louisville. When we arrived Lara's roommate Jon had even baked fantastic home-made cookies! The apartment and bedroom were the same as shown in the photos. The apartment is large, with high ceilings as was the bedroom. We had a private bathroom that was lovely and Lara provided towels, soaps, and written instructions on how to use the shower/tub. The room/bathroom we used was private, we felt like we had our own little space which was very nice. Parking for this apartment is very close and has an incredibly cheap parking lot ($2.50/day). Lara mentioned there was an even cheaper place down the block. The neighborhood was in easy walking distance to a number of restaurants. My partner and I like to walk and so we found Louisville very walk-able in general. Some areas, like Nulu or Highlands neighborhood, would need to be driven to from Lara's by people who are not as adamant about walking. Food overall was fantastic in Louisville. We even got a bit-turned around one day and a Louisville ambassador on a bicycle pulled over and helped us find our way. We highly recommend this apartment (And Lara as a host!).
I often drive from Texas to Michigan. Great stops along the way include downtown Memphis, Nashville, Cincinnati, and now my airbnb stay with Lara, Jon & Zelda in downtown Louisville.
First of all, they are nice folks, excellent, natural hosts. I will gladly stay with them again. Accomodations? They have a comfortable, large apartment in a large older building with an elevator, parking next door. They offer guests a nice private bedroom/bath including tub & shower, excellent bedding. Location? Good neighborhood, kitty-corner from the Brown Hotel & Public Library. The are in the heart of downtown Louisville, walk to Fourth Street restaurants, museum row. Parking? Jon met me with a complimentary parking pass for the secure lot next door. After friendly introductions I walked to Muhammad Ali Center, then took Jon's wise advice, enjoyed happy-hour sushi at Sapporo nearby. I retired early after visiting a bit with Lara, who was also entertaining a friend for dinner at home. I agree we just didn't have enough time to visit. I would have extended my one-night stay, but had to put another 400 miles on the Honda, so left early the next morning. I look forward to visiting with them all again. Be aware, as Lara points out in their ad, Zelda is a dog, a great dane. I grew up with dogs, and was comfortable around her.
A note from Wikipedia on them: "Temperament
The Great Dane's large and imposing appearance belies its friendly nature. The breed is often referred to as a "gentle giant". Great Danes are generally well disposed toward other dogs, other non-canine pets, and familiar humans. They generally do not exhibit extreme aggressiveness or a high prey drive. The Great Dane is a very gentle and loving animal and with the proper care and training is great around children, especially when being raised with them. However, if not properly socialized a Great Dane may become fearful or aggressive towards new stimuli, such as strangers and new environments.
Great Danes are a breed recommended for families provided that they get trained early and onwards, regarded by animal experts due to their preference for sitting on and leaning against owners as 'the world's biggest 'lapdog.'"
I think using the bed and breakfast arrangement is so much better than going to a hotel. You get to meet new friends and enjoy a bit of the neighborhood. I only spent the night with Lara and Jon, but had a great time and they're location was an easy bus ride to and back where I needed to go that night. Parking my car in the next door lot was easy and safe. The bed is the best - slept real well. And the dog, did I mention the dog. Zelda is a warm and friendly Great Dane. That was a great experience. I had a wonderful time and will definitely come back the next time I am in Louisville. Thanks guys. Kel
Lara was an absolute pleasure to have in our home. She and John were warm, friendly, funny and easy-going – a breath of fresh air! They are both amazing individuals and we are truly glad to have met them. Both were tidy, communicative and extremely thoughtful. We shared many laughs and great conversations on travel, food and apartment hunting. The dogs also enjoyed plenty of belly rubs!
We were disappointed that they could not stay longer but are ecstatic about their move to Louisville! We could go on and on raving about how wonderful they are, but will sum it up by saying they are highly recommended guests!
In only one day you can understand that Lara is a great person. She is enchanting and was a privilege to have her as guest in our place. She is very clean and respectful. We would love her to come back soon! Highly recommended!!!
Lara was a great guest - kind, respectful and clean. She's welcome back anytime.
Lara was a delightful guest - considerate, quiet, neat with the added bonus of a great sense of humor. I hope she visits me again.
