One word to describe - lovely! Francesco and his family are wonderful hosts. We were welcomed with oranges, lemons, Christmas goodies, tiramisu and hot chocolate - all taste very good. The apartment is warm and cosy. For those who drive, it has a private parking and driving up is easy.
The wind was very strong when we were there. It was also very cold and snowed on our last day there. I was told the last time it snowed was 1981! Fortunately, it was our last day in that area as our car is not equipped w snow tyres.
We did the infamous hike from Nocelle to Bomerano instead of the popular east to west route. This is a more convenient option since we are located not too far from Nocelle. The hike was not that difficult afterall. The afternoon is spent in Amalfi and Positano before heading back.
Excellent hosts. The entire family were very welcoming and available whenever we required. We even had some home cooked squid.
Although not in central Positsno we had no trouble getting into the centre and as most restaurants have a complimentary taxi service going out in the evening was not a problem.
This place is amazing. The hosts, the terrace, the views…everything. Chiara and her family were extremely helpful and hospitable. They brought us fresh figs from their garden upon our arrival and "Momma" made us tiramisu one evening which was delicious! There is a local bus that runs every hour making it very easy to get to and from Positano and the stop is 20 meters from the home. It's a nice retreat from bustling Positano and the town of Montepertuso is a short walk up the road, offering one of our favorite restaurants of the entire trip (Il Ritrovo), as well as a market. We will definitely be back!
Francesco and Chiara were not able to meet us when we arrived, but their father, Angelo greeted us with open arms. He did not speak English; nor did we speak Italian. A friend of his was there to translate everything. They gave us a thorough orientation to the apartment and welcomed us with fruit, including his wonderful figs, from the garden. The refrigerator and cupboard were stocked with everything we needed to get us started. (Ivana's review covers all of this and more exactly).
The apartment was perfect in every way for our holiday. It was spotless and so well equipped. The view is incredible! We had a car but learned very quickly that the bus service works just fine. It was easier to leave the driving to those used to the curvy, narrow roads.
We were made to feel like family at Casa La Toretta. Guiseppina made eggplant parmesan and marinated eggplant for us. Both were outstanding. The tiramisu that she brought us was the best we had ever eaten. The homemade lemoncello was awesome. The tomatoes were so much better than any we had at home this year.
We highly recommend Casa La Toretta to anyone looking for Amalfi Coast holiday lodging; it is absolutely the best.
Our stay at Casa La Toretta was PERFECT.
We were greeted by Francesco's father Angelo who was very kind and welcoming.
Francesco's girlfriend Anna Maria popped by shortly after to show us all necessities in the apartment, and give us helpful tips for the area (restaurant recommendations, tours, sights etc).
The apartment location was breathtakingly beautiful. It's located in the hills of Montepertuso above Postiano. (Do not kid yourself, it is a SOLID 40 min walk to the Positano beach). However we loved the location due to the peace, quiet, and fresh mountain air.
There IS a bus that runs promptly every hour from 7am (i believe) until 11pm from Montepertuso (there is a stop about 50 metres from the house) to the main area of Positano).
The apartment itself had everything we needed. It was quite spacious. (2 bed, 2 bath). The kitchen was spacious and had all kitchen wares needed for cooking. We were welcomed with a bowl of fresh fruit. There was coffee, tea, bottled water, jams, cereal, butter, and other essentials at our disposal.
The bathrooms were equipped with towels, hair dryer, toiletries such as shampoo, soap etc.
For the best part.. the view from the terrace - incredible. The house is literally wedged into the mountain side, so you are completely surround by mountains (with the odd house visible in the distance).
Additionally there is a stunning panoramic view that is accessible from a viewpoint on their property that looks down on all of Positano.
The hosts themselves (Francesco, Chiara, Anna Maria and Angelo) are extremely kind, helpful welcoming people.
Angelo brought us fresh figs from his garden multiple times and invited us for coffee on the morning when we checked out.
Francesco and Chiara also own/run a restaurant called La Sirene on a secluded Positano beach. We visited and they were so welcoming, and the food was incredible (as was the private beach). If you have time, it's well worth the visit to La Sirene :)
The only negative: if you choose to walk (vs taking the bus).. the walk down to the Positano beach/ main town is a solid 40 min downhill hike down many, many stairs. We personally didn't mind as it helped us feel less guilty about all the amazing food.
All in all I would HIGHLY recommend this Air BnB location to anyone looking to stay in Positano. We loved it and would hope to go back some day!
Bonjour Amis d'Airbnb!
Francesco and his family were wonderful. Angelo welcomed us when we arrived. The home was very comfortable and well appointed. It is a beautiful location slightly beyond the busy town of Positano. We walked everywhere. We were surprised most nights with treats from the family garden. The space is completely private but there was always someone around if you needed help or suggestions.
I would totally recommend Casa La Torretta to anyone travelling to the Amalfi coast. The house is lovely, spacious, and very well equipped. The views are stunning and the treatment you get from Angelo just cannot be beat. The attention to detail is excellent. You get 3 towels per person for the shower, 1 for the beach, soap, shampoo...everything you'd find in a hotel. Apart from that, you get fresh fruit, jams, butter, coffee, cereals, everything for a great breakfast! Upon your arrival they lend you a cell phone from were you can call the house, Angelo and his sons, or any local place, free of charge. I had never seen that kind of service before. In addition, the house was spotless and Angelo was always available for anything we might need. I thank them for the wonderful home made tiramisu, the watermelons, the fresh oregano, and the moments shared together. Within the property there's an unbelievable spot prepared to enjoy the best panoramic view the amalfi coast has to offer. The bus stop is VERY close to the house, and you get a really nice parking space in case you go there with a car. The house is also close to the stairs leading to the beach (for those of you who are fit).
