The most excellent getaway from DC, only about a 70 minute drive to a peaceful area in nature, with an excellent beach nearby. Satira and her husband were gracious hosts and the place fit eight of us very comfortably. Thank you so much! We hope to go back again.
My family spent 3 days at Satira's place. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The house is airy, nicely furnished, and the area around is beautiful. There was a generous supply of sheets and towels, as well as some basic foods and kitchen utensils. However, there were three safety concerns which perhaps should be addressed. First, the boards on the balcony are rotting, and my mother's foot fell through one of them when she stepped outside- I am very glad I was there to catch/help her. Second, the light in the stairwell going down to the basement does not work- one has to descend in the dark, and the stairs are rather steep. Lastly, the shower curtain is rather moldy and in need of cleaning or replacement.
The location is great to Solomon Island for dining or there are stores nearby if you want to cook in . Home was cozy and clean . Had a nice time sitting on the back deck looking at nature and enjoying a glass of wine.
Satira was an absolutely fabulous hostess! We had a great time and the condo was perfect for what we needed. Great location with very easy Metro access!
Satira was an amazing host!
She was quick to respond and very accommodating. She even sent a text to check if we were okay after our first night. I only have high praises for her and her graciousness.
We arrived earlier than expected and she was quick to change her plans to make us feel welcomed.
The inside of the apartment is just as shown on the profile, extremely clean and well kept. Very spacious and clean. The beds and furniture were extremely comfortable. The kitchen appliances were very modern and worked effortlessly. Above all else, the entire unit had AC - a complete life saver as a heat wave struck DC the week we were there. We were very, very pleased and would certainly stay here again.
We did not get to walk around the neighborhood much as the heat made walking unbearable at times. But a few blocks away was a Safeway that had everything you needed, groceries, household items and then some. There was a metro stop just in front of the Safeway.
There's a great park directly across of the apartment complex and the street is beautifully tree lined.
The Nationals' Stadium is not too far away and is the focus of your view from the apartment.
Besides the metro station near safeway, we used Uber all over the city, in the heat and I would imagine in the cold, it makes for a great, great option.
Everything was exactly as described. There was free live music a few walking blocks away at Yards Park, the baseball field was super close, groceries and coffee were within a nice walk, and we Ubered everywhere else (much cheaper than the Metro if you have at least 3 people). Satira was very accommodating on meeting times, she had great advice about getting around, and the condo was very nicely decorated with comfy sheets. THANK YOU!
Satira's cabin was a great weekend getaway and there was plenty to do nearby. Everything you could need was in the house and it was great for kids. Really enjoyed it!
Kevin meet us upon our arrival and showed us up to the apt. It is exactly as described. The location was perfect! Close to the waterfront and the metro. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. No worries walking back and forth to restaurants and the sights, like the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and American Indian museum. We recommend both highly. The metro was convenient to get anywhere. Great vacation! We would definitely stay here again.
Great host, neighborhood, and apartment. Perfect for out-of-town guests. SW DC doesn't have the most cultural attractions, but it's less than a mile from the Mall and only a few blocks from Nationals Stadium.
We were in town for the Heart concert at Calvert Marine Museum and wanted to stay somewhere that wasn't just a typical hotel. We certainly found a gem at Satira's cabin! Reasonably priced, plenty of room, a nice firepit, and a beach pass that we were able to use at 2 beaches in the neighborhood! Plus, the cabin is centrally located, so it was just a short drive to Solomons Island and everything we needed! Satira was flexible, nice, and easy to contact. Thank you!
