David - I live in NYC and split my time between NY and LA.
"Views and Charm" is no lie. We had the most wonderful snow-filled weekend at David's beautiful place in Lee. The quite setting, beautiful accommodations and relaxing nature of Lee, Ma was just what we needed. David and Lisa were so helpful and caring. We had everything we needed. I highly recommend for any season - it was like a snowglobe when we were there in January. I am 100% going to return.
My family craved for a hideaway, nothing big, just a beautiful place to stay and be with each other. We enjoyed our stay at David's very much. The view, llamas and sheep, sun-bathing from inside the house were what we needed. It was 17 degree outside, we stayed cozy and happy inside yet still connected with the beautiful outside world, the field, the animals, the clouds, smokes from far away hill, and colorful sunset. Our 3.5-year-old was the happiest. She kept saying I like our new house. Lisa and John were very welcoming and helpful. Lisa recommended a couple places and restaurants to us; all were enjoyed (especially Norman Rockaway Museum and Kirpalu yoga center). We are not far from the place, 2.5 hrs away in a valley, will definitely come back again.
My finace and our little dog Bela had an absolutely wonderful time staying at David's peaceful abode. The views from the living room and office were absolutely spectacular. Walking the grounds and saying a little hello to the llamas and sheep was an unbelieveable start to the day. Taking long walks around October Mountain (the backyard, basically) were quite restorative. The neighbors were all wonderful and so kind and thoughtful. It was a great launching pad for all parts of the Berkshires.
David's apartment is perfect! It is so well appointed, with a small office, bedroom, and even a laundry room. It also has a fully equipped kitchen (all clad pans!), which would be perfect for an extended stay. We only stayed a night -- and I wish we had more time to stay and enjoy the beautiful property. The apartment is the bottom unit of a larger house, and Lisa upstairs is awesome, as is her sweet dog Lucy. The house is at the end of a small road, so it is quiet and peaceful. Outside the apartment front door is a nice sized deck and a huge field that goes down to the sheep and llamas, which were all very fun to watch.
David was very responsive and kind -- and Lisa was also on hand to help with any questions.
The home is in the small town of Lee, MA which has a cute little downtown and is a 20 minute drive from Great Barrington, which is a bit larger and has lots of restaurants, shopping, a movie theater, etc. The rental would be perfect for a week or even a month as an artists retreat.
Awesome retreat in the berkshires. Will definitely return. Genuinely breathtaking views (with a nice porch where you can sit and relax); convenient location for pretty much everything in the Berkshires; llamas, sheep, and pigs to visit; and a spacious (though fairly basic) living space (pictures are accurate and give you a good sense). David was a real pleasure to deal with, and Lisa the upstairs neighbor and her adorable Goldendoodle Lucy were often around and she was extremely nice and always looking to help. Highly recommend this place. I will be back.
David is as a great host!
We arrived and everything was perfectly in order.
The apartment is amazing and we immediately felt welcome.
Next time I am in New York, I will definitely see if I can stay at his apartment again! I strongly recommend this place as a home-away-from-home to anyone traveling to New York.
