Michael was a great host to us on our visit to the big city. Location is key, and Michaelia apartment was in a safe neighborhood one block from the F line. Perfect for two people. Our stay needed to be shortened due to an emergency and Michael was so understanding to refund our remaining 3 nights.
Had a great time staying at Michael's apartment. It was a perfect location to see NY, close to a subway stop on the F line and very close to restaurants and cafes on the Lower East Side. Michael was extremely helpful and accommodating. Apartment size is great for two people.
After staying in the LES, my girlfriend and I spent a few days at Michael's place in Chinatown. The apartment is a very well kept, clean, and organized space.
Michael instructed us to be quiet as he helped us up the 4 flights of stairs. It was great that he helped with the bags - as we would have make a couple of trips otherwise.
He explained that his landlord wasn't OK with AirBNB, so we were to be his "guests". Understandable, but would have been good to know prior.
I've only used AirBNB a couple times before, and both times it was almost run like a hotel. Lockbox on the door, didn't see anyone, not apparent someone lived in the space they were renting out. This situation was definitely different, but good as well.
Michael is very friendly and chatty, talking about what we were doing in New York, real estate, places to eat in the neighborhood, etc.
It's on the same block as the East Broadway subway station, so getting around town wasn't a problem at all.
If you stay here, make sure you check out the breakfast/lunch place on the back side of the block - and Prosperity Dumpling off Eldridge! Lots of great places to eat, and it's right next to the US Post Office if you need to mail some things home after shopping too much in SoHo (like we did).
Michael dropped by a couple times to water his plants during our stay, and left us a nice letter when we left.
Would definitely stay here again if he's still offering his space on AirBNB.
Michael is a great host and he was very helpful with his suggestions and his flexibility. Not only did he receive us with beer and snacks, we also got an invitation to visit him at his studio. We liked his appartment very much: It had all we needed, is large enough for two people and well furnished. The subway is easy to reach, the neighborhood felt safe and smooth, and it's relatively quiet at night. We highly reccomended Michael's appartment for a trip to Manhattan.
Micheal was a great and helpful host, very easy communication and it was a pleasure to meet him.
The apartment, as said in other reviews, is a bit rustic but clean, spacious and comfortable with a very nice living area. Maybe it was not so much close to bars & other places as we were expecting, but the subway station at less than 100 mt did the job very well, also for our daylight trips.
Highly reccomended for a safe and reliable stay in NYC.
My boyfriend and i had a great stay at micheal's appartment. Michael was very kind at made us feel at home at once. The appartment is located in a great neighbourhood, close to a lot of cool shops, café's and bars. The appartment was very clean and cosy, and the style and interior gave us a real New York experience. We would defenitly reccomend Michael's appartment for a trip to New York!
Super location just a couple of blocks to the river, subway really close. Felt safe as an area to stay and near great bars and eateries and very close to $1 oyster bars!
Apartment was really comfortable and suited our needs, we loved the quirky New York feel to it. Michael greeted us with a glass of red which was great after a long trip! Lovely guy and very welcoming. Highly recommended.
The apartment is located in the ever shrinking china town, in a few years it will probably be a hotspot for younger crowds! Just keep in mind that it is four steps without an elevator so it's great exercise!
Perfect for you that likes it quiet at night. Just a cross the street you can buy 12 big pork dumplings for 2 dollars. Just outside the door you will have a small store that will sell you late night snacks.
The subway is just a minute away around the corner and it takes ten minutes by foot to get to the crowded parts of china town.
Nice and clean apartment and Michael is a really friendly host. Michael Fed-Exed the keys all the way to Sweden so that we could check in late by ourselfes.
