We just had the very best experience! My friend from Italy and I stayed for five nights in this Waihe'e bungalow, and we found it to be the perfect place to be to begin each day's adventures. Wade and Erika are wonderful hosts - very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. We ate papaya, banana and mango from their garden. The apartment is roomy and comfortable with a beautiful sunrise view! There is a full kitchen, and a huge bedroom. The whole experience was perfect. I will come back again!
Wade and Erika were fantastic! They were always very helpful with everything from info about the island to borrowing a cup of sugar :) they were always available and fixed any issues I had promptly. When I arrived the ohana was nice and clean with a great fruit basket waiting for me :). The ohana is located in a nice quiet area. I loved waking up to see a sliver of the ocean and a delicious mango tree in the yard. I would definitely stay with Wade and Erika again :)
We enjoyed your cottage and had a great time. It was comfortable and home like. It was well supplied. Its nice country like location was great. We enjoyed talking with our hosts and finding out about the area. Even the chickens were a great addition. If we go back to Maui we hope to stay there again
This is one of our favorite places. The welcome was warm. Her husband Wade and his dad were working on the electric when we arrived - with unneeded apologies for any delay. Once in, everything was perfect. We used out stay for exploring a lot of Maui. If we return to Maui, this will be our pick of where to stay.
Myself and my best friend stayed eight says in Erika's lovely blue ohana. We got in late, but Erika had sent an email in advance detailing all the necessary directions, etc. We were greeted by a lovely fruit bowl and a welcome letter, and Wade popped by to say Hi and give us advice on sight-seeing. The accommodations were perfect: a lovely living room and kitchen, perfect for making meals in and hanging out, a wet room (shower and toilet) and a large bedroom area with a sink. There were lots of towels and everything else we could need. Though we were usually out and about exploring, when we did see Erika and Wade they were always charming and ever-helpful. The house isn't that far from the beach, maybe a 10-15 minute walk, and there are cool wetlands there too to check out. We had no idea about Maui before arriving; so, we weren't sure if this would be a convenient location or not - it totally was. The island is very small, if you have access to a vehicle this is a great, central location. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend, and if I come back to Maui (hopefully I will), I'll be staying in the little blue ohana again.
The Ohana was exactly as described and exactly as we expected. We didn't stay long, and so we didn't really get to appreciate the area around the guest house much, and we didn't spend much time with Erika and Wade. However, it was a great base for our Road to Hana, Haleakala, and Maalala Bay adventures.
We were greeted by the smell of a fresh pineapple and there were a lot of maps and brochures for us to rely on.
This would be a great location for a longer term stay where you could walk to the beach and eat meals on the lanai!
My dad and I had a great time at Erika's place! The cottage is set in a great location for exploring the whole island and it covers all your needs: full size kitchen, comfortable beds, nice patio to enjoy the sunset with a cup of coffee and a fast, reliable Internet connection! Erika and her husband are very kind and friendly hosts. Totally recommended! Grazie!
We had a lovely time in the ohana and wholeheartedly recommend it -- especially to families with young kids.
The space is open, airy and bright. Giant fridge, full kitchen, stocked with cooking supplies, coloring books for kids, novels for adults. Erika & Wade greeted us with coffee, cream, wine, croissants, and juice -- it was wonderful! They even gave us so much fresh fruit we never had to buy any!
We were right off the road, but the ohana and surrounding property are very quiet and peaceful. We particularly enjoyed hearing the waves crash at night, lulling us to sleep.
The yard is lovely & private. We sat out there every morning in our pajamas while our toddler ran around. There was even a tiny picnic table our daughter could sit at while we sat a cafe table. Great space for kids. They let us use their son's playspace in the other yard and let us feed the chickens.
The listing was completely accurate & their welcome letter covered every question I could have had. My only caveat is that there's no door between the living room & bedroom. The spaces are separated by a tiny hall however, so the bedroom feels far off. There were only 3 of us but the space could easily have fit 3-4 more people with the futon couch and the bunk bed.
We really loved the space and the hosts. Erika & Wade were kind, informative, accommodating and generous.
We enjoyed our stay. The location was great for us and our hosts were very hospitable. We especially enjoyed the fresh fruit fromtheir yard.
