Great flat in Hong Kong, super easy to get to from the airport. Check in was straightforward and we could even leave our luggage on the last day. Everything is clean and the bed great.
We would stay there again.
Location, Location, Location!
Super clean and comfortable.
Will def. stay here again next time I am in wonderful HK!.
This flat is exactly what we were expecting based on the description and reviews and it's location is AMAZING. It is literally 5 steps off the Mid-levels escalator, surrounded by wonderful bars, restaurants, and cafes, and so easy to get anywhere in the city (and so fun) thanks to the Escalator. Also extremely close to the airport express train for easy travel in and out of the city.
I used to live in Hong Kong and hand-picked this location for a return visit there, so know that it is a great location.
The flat itself was perfect--so nice to have a queen bed considering so many other airbnb options in the area only had full size beds. The kitchen was hong-kong-size but totally functional for making a simple meal or heating up leftovers...and the espresso machine was awesome, too! Really nice bathroom, super hot water, and a space heater was provided since we were there during the chilly months.
Nice TV, a few cable channels--I either was confused on how to use the cable or there are only a handful of news and movie channels available, which is totally fine but was a bit confusing at first.
Finally, because the flat is on the 11th floor and there's only one flat per floor, there was no noise issues with neighbors.
Overall an excellent flat in a superb location for a great price--any hotel at this location would be twice as much per night! Stay here and enjoy Hong Kong.
This is a great, clean place with lots of natural light in a super convenient location. The house entrance, the elevator and the space in front of the apartment are all a bit depressing but the apartment clearly makes up for all. Although smallish, it is nicely furnished, provides cable TV with international channels and has good internet access. There are endless restaurant- and bar options in the area, breakfast can be had in one of the many cafe's nearby (check out Artisan bakery Eric Kayser if you like croissants and pastries). We haven't met Alexis but Rose provided us with a few instructions. Check in was easy, so was the booking. Loved it!
Great stay. Literally spitting distance off the Central escalators. Convenient for transportation. Ride one escalator up for buses or walk leisurely downhill for the trains.
Right in the middle of bars and restaurants but definitely not noisy, being on the top (11th) floor of the building and having somewhat soundproofed windows.
There's a cable TV but somewhat limited channels. You can subscribe to more channels (but we did not want to do that without the owner's permission, so we limit ourselves to a few movie and news channels, which is good enough).
Water heater is excellent. Relatively spacious bathroom (for HK standards). And definitely a spacious flat. Comfortably fits three of us.
Communication with Alex was good. We arrived a few minutes past 1300H (earlier than agreed 1400H). Texted Alex that we were already at the entrance. He called his caretakers who gladly opened the door (remotely) for us. The Filipina assistants were very friendly and accommodating. Answers every question and replies to every text.
The Nespresso machine is a welcome addition to the place as we are a coffee drinking group. We did not find his stock of sugar so we had to get some from one of the restaurants downstairs. LOL.
The room design is modern with a beautiful mix of red and black. Nice comfortable bed. Great pillows (if downy is your preference). Could use two more pillows though. There's a Philips iPhone dock similar to the one I have at home except that he has the older version (18-pin, not lightning connector), but not a problem, I have an old iPod.
There are a few signs of deterioration such as chipped paint and cracked plastic edges on the floor, but overall, still top shape. A few retouch can fix those issues.
Alex also put some "funky" LED lights on top of the curtain near the bed, under the bed, and on the bathroom. It has remote control to control the blinking. Party mode! Excellent for drunk partygoers who want to continue the fun upstairs.
When I booked, I asked Alex if we can check out a little later since our flight would be in the evening. He was cool with it since the next occupant would still arrive later at night. We checked out past 1600H. But then we wanted to eat at a nearby restaurant. So we left our bags. Got them back after eating and left the place almost 1700H. Pulled a taxi at a nearby street. Fare to Airport Express HK station is HK$22.00.
Will definitely be considering this place the next time I'm in Hong Kong.
Location, location! Hong Kong is easy as pi when you hop on the Central Escalator and are whisked up the hill. Close to street markets and expat hangouts, you can get descend fast to the ferry across the harbor and all the glitz. Alexis is generous with coffee and his studio sufficiently user-friendly that a glitch seems like nothing when a city so worldly can be downloaded lickety-split. Welcome to Asia -- this is as good an introduction to the Old World writ new as can be asked for. Just make sure the meetup time is tight and you'll have it right. Big this is not, but
nice is being so near the Man Mo temple and its antique stalls.
Alexis' studio flat is ideally located in the heart of the Soho district of Hong Kong, just doors from the "escalator system" that allows easy access to downtown and the port area. The flat was clean and comfortable. It had all the basic appliances and dishes a couple would need for a weeks stay. We arrived early and Alexis went out of his way to get us in so that we could drop off our luggage and begin touring the city.
The best location, cozy appartments in the heart of hong kong hectic nightlife.
Alexis (owner) is friendly and easy to get on with.
Just go down on the street, sip some spirits in numerous bars nearby and enjoy authentic atmosphere of this gorgeous city!
The location is excellent and the apartment is nicely decorated. If you want to be near SOHO, you cannot pick a better location.
The only complaint is that this apartment gets cold during the Winter. There was a space heater (which was not pointed out upon arrival), but even with that on it was still chilly next to the windows.
I would definitely stay hear again, especially during the warmer months.
Great apartment and great location. Was cosy with 4 but very doable. Convenient and well priced for Hong Kong. Loved having a coffee machine. Thanks
Hello fellow AirBnB traveller,
as soon as I land in Hong Kong -- even if the seat belt sign is still flashing and the trolley dolly is yelling at me to turn off my phone -- I have to call Alex.
I've known Alex for over 10 years. We've hung out at the highest peaks in Hong Kong and then underground at some of the coolest bars. We've eaten at some of the most expensive restaurants and some of the cheapest food stalls on the street.
If you are are staying at his place in Hong Kong the only possible draw back is that Alex won't be in the city so you won't get to enjoy his company.
Alexis and I have traveled together, roomed together, and taken classes together. He is a smart and well-traveled entrepreneur who is responsible and fun to be around. Unfortunately I have yet to visit his place in Hong Kong, but knowing him I can only imagine that you will get a world class experience staying there.
