Ciao sono di Perugia...
Siamo stati benissimo.
A True Umbrian Experience
We stayed at the villa for 10 days during our 5 week tour of northern Italy and having visited all the typically mobbed tourist traps (Venice, Milan, Florence and Pisa) we were looking for somewhere to chill and soak up some rustic Italian living - thankfully we found this villa. Paolo and his family welcomed us with genuine Italian hospitality.
I’m not going to go into too much detail about the accommodation itself, other than it was clean and well equipped - and actually an annex to the bigger family home. It is not physically joined to the main building and the mature garden hedges ensured we had our own privacy (when we wanted it!). Inside the Tuscan burnt orange coloured property there are two bedrooms (which are surprisingly cool in the evening for August!), a bathroom with shower, a lounge cum dining area and a well equipped kitchen. If you your are looking for über modern luxurious furniture and all the latest tech kitchen toys, you’ll be disappointed, instead the interior is decorated with a homely eclectic mix of antique style furniture and post modern paintings!
Outside there is a huge, immaculately kept and enclosed garden. Both our two children (aged 5 and 9) and us (aged...) loved it. They had the freedom to run as far as their legs could carry them (followed closely by the two beautifully natured family dogs!), and we felt safe in the knowledge they were never close to any cars or roads (the house is set back 1km from the nearest road). Also, the property boasts a large swimming pool which we all enjoyed tremendously - firstly for the refreshingly cool temperature in August, but secondly for the absolutely wonderful views across the nearby valley - the sunsets were amazing!
We were lucky that we stayed at the villa over Ferragosto and Paolo informed us he was going to hold a small party for family and friends - and in the true spirit of italian hospitality he invited our family to join. We went along and had a great time. The food, people and setting was a truly unforgettable experience. I honestly would have no hesitation in recommending the villa to any family or couple looking for warm, friendly and authentic Umbrian holiday experience. Eccellente!
