Nice to meet you! I am new to the AirBnB community and hoping to "test" this innovative concept of home-sharing out for an upcoming trip to D.C.!
I am a public health professional committed to childhood obesity prevention efforts in the Boston area. Last August, I traveled to D.C./Rockeville, Maryland to participate in a training for work. What stood out to me most about D.C. was how the city's design encourages physical activity and community. The streets are pedestrian and biker-friendly, and there are beautiful outdoor public parks and gardens all over downtown for residents and visitors alike to enjoy!
In April, I am returning with my mother, as it has been her dream to see the famous cherry blossoms for the past decade. This trip is a birthday/Christmas present to her and also as a small thank you for her love and support through the years. I hope to find a nice place to stay during this special trip.
More about me: As I mentioned, I am a public health professional in Boston. As committed as I am to my job, I also enjoy a number of hobbies outside of work, such as rock-climbing, long distance running, tennis, soccer, and biking. I am by no means an athlete, but engage in these activities to stay healthy and grounded. My personal motto is: Be active in body and mind. Recently, I have started to pick-up painting and drawing, something I have not done in over a decade. I have found that while the end piece resembles nothing like the image in my mind, the process is simultaneously relaxing and invigorating.
My mother is a delightful woman. She is an active volunteer in her town's senior center, teaching an elderly Chinese couple English and often providing transportation to/from the market and center for stranded seniors. She enjoys knitting and needle arts, jewelery-making, and is learning the mandolin!
We are respectful and will treat your homes as we do ours. Thank you in advance for your consideration!
