I'm a recently retired museum professional (designer, curator, director) and arts administrator. My wife Alicia is a retired school administrator. So we have more time to travel these days. We like both urban and "country" types of trips. I'm the urban expert: I can find the best croissant or baked goods in any city, without a guide book! She's the country expert: she figures out what the best trails are for hiking. We are good house guests -- very respectful, very neat and clean, and very sociable.
We like to try unusual or "interesting" places to eat when we travel (which means we have to go back to Portland OR soon!), and we especially enjoy cultural activities such as galleries, museums, jazz concerts... We travel modestly -- we don't like big fancy hotels, but we also don't go to youth hostels anymore. And we like to "blend in" with our setting, and not do the usual touristy things
Which is why we appreciate the "airbnb" experience.
