James's place is super nice, clean and comfortable. We stayed there for a week with a friend of mine and would totally go back. The apartment is warm, the toilet/bathroom is new and there is an amazing view over London. We had known that some of the apartments in London can be drafty and moist, but definitely not the case here.
James was a great host, although not in town while we were there, but the instruction he left were clear and everything went smoothly.
Dalston is a great area, and we were happy to discover it and not be in the more conventional "touristy" areas.
I can only recommend this place. James has been an incredible host, easy to reach and very helpful in all regards. the appartment is great, just what it looks like in the pics, very comforting and a fine resort if you want to relax from lively london. the neighbourhood is eastlondon-ish at it's best, very mixed with lots of galleries, cafes, bars etc in near reach. me and my family had a wonderful time in this flat and i would definitely stay there again.
James is a top bloke, communicative, friendly and organised and his family were cool; they even mastered the triksy oven for a Thanksgiving turkey. Hats off!
James and his friend were very friendly and easy going. They were respectful and the communication was easy. They both seemed to enjoy my place and left it in a perfect condition. Nice guests, I recommend !
Althought I didn't get to know James in person, I found his relatives and himself at phone and email to be excellent tenants!
They were very respectfull about the flat and the established procedures, as well as very nice people to exchange experiences with.
James is both a friend and a colleague who I've known for many years. One Easter, following a spectacular planning error on my part, I found myself in London with nowhere to stay over the long bank holiday weekend. James kindly offered me use of his apartment as he was out of town and my boyfriend and I had a fantastic time.
The flat itself is brand-spanking new and, being a designer, James has furnished it very tastefully with all kinds of bits and pieces he's collected on his own travels. It has incredible views across London from the balcony and is literally on top of Dalston Junction Overground station, making it possible to get anywhere in the city within minutes. The building itself has a manned reception making it feel as though you're staying in serviced apartment block and it feels very secure, no matter when you return at night or whether your alone or with others.
Dalston is Hipster HQ so the immediate area is well served for bars, clubs, trendy shops and cheap eats but James had left comprehensive notes so I knew exactly how to find the best of the best. Ask him to tell you about the jerk chicken place nearby and his favourite Turkish restaurant, both of which were excellent.
James was a brilliant host - communicative, easy-going and willing to go well beyond the extra mile to make sure I had a good time. And he's very house-proud so the flat itself is immaculately clean and tidy. I would recommend James and his apartment to anyone wanting to live like a local (with a great eye for design) in London.
