Dawn was great to work with. Her place was perfect for a 4 night stay while I was attending a conference. It's located in a quieter area of the city just 2 blocks from a grocery store and a short walk to the convention center. It's also accessible by foot to the French Quarter and Bourbon Street. As others have mentioned, the wireless signal is spotty and I was unable connect. When I asked Dawn about this, she recommended a nearby wifi hotspot to go to if that was needed. I would recommend Dawn's place to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, safe, and quiet place in New Orleans.
We really enjoyed staying here for a long weekend in November! Not only was the weather perfect for lots of exploring on foot, the extra steps from her place to the French Quarter helped us justify the food and drink that NOLA is so well known for! I was very impressed with the security of the building and ample off street parking. Only caveats to our glowing review was that our vehicle was blocked in during the Saints game and we had to grab a cab to dinner, the carpet had some exposed tack strips in places and the shower would benefit from a little more water pressure.
The building has been redone and has wonderful 'bones' to it! I loved the view from the bedroom, looking at the city lights come through the large windows in the large living room at night.
All in all, we would definitely stay here again!
Dawn was a wonderful, accommodating host, the location is terrific and the apartment is very comfortable. The pictures show the place exactly. I highly recommend this apartment for a Nola trip.
There are two small caveats -- the WiFi was spotty. I told Dawn and she was there within minutes with her personal hotspot -- which was awesome. But since it was a hotspot, we laid off the streaming or heavy data use. If you're a heavy bandwidth user, you might inquire if the regular WiFi is up and running reliably. And the kitchen is not particularly well-equipped, even for a vacation rental. However, you're in New Orleans, home to many of the best restaurants in the country, so what are you doing in the kitchen?
Overall, a high-four-star place.
Dawn's place is extremely spacious and ideally located for easy access to just about anywhere - including the CBD and French Quarter. On foot, the 15-minute walk to these neighbourhoods is very pleasant, and by car it's so fast you won't even have time to sit back. The supermarket down the way is enormous and has everything you could wish for, and it's open 'til midnight, besides.
The loft itself is very relaxing, ideal for one person or a couple, with a comfortable sofa big enough for a third guest if required and a terrific bed. Ceiling fans in both big rooms keep the heat at bay.
The best part of the experience is Dawn's supremely friendly, professional and accessible attitude. She's a real pleasure to deal with. (For example, due to circumstances beyond her control, there was no usable wifi connection in the building when I arrived - but she bent over backward to remedy the problem, and I was able to communicate with my workplace back in the UK soon into my stay.)
Thanks for everything, Dawn. N'awlins hospitality at its best.
