Designer / Lives in Amsterdam
You will be welcome with a small tour book sharing our favorite local joints and tips and a map of course!.
The flat is really nice, it's clean and the living room area is spacious but the bedroom is quite small but great for a short stay for 2 people. There's a kitchen with everything apart from an oven but it didn't really matter. There are nice big windows so you can enjoy the view of all the cute houses on the street. The communal hall has very steep and narrow steps - but it was fine for us (we both did trip the first day though!)
The walls are quiet thin so you can hear the neighbours but they were pretty quiet most of the time - it didn't bother us. We did get woken up by building work the first couple of days but it was fine.
Location was good - we managed to walk to pretty much everywhere we wanted within 10-15 mins. It's also a very nice street, not much noise and not too busy. On saturday morning we woke up to find market stalls set up right outside the flat which was nice!
Price wise - we found ourselves buying food from the albert hein near by and going into the red light district for food as it was a little cheaper there but there were lots of nice looking restaurants in the area that we're going to try next time when we have more spending money!
We didn't actually meet Karina, we got the keys from a safety box which was cool - it made the place feel like ours!
The only thing was that we tried to contact Karina to find out how to get the bikes but we were unable to reach her - she did call us the first night though to check everything was ok.
We also did manage to keep our bags at the flat till quite late though which was helpful but really only because we didn't receive a reply to say that we had to check out any earlier.
We didn't really mind but it would have been nice to be able to use the bikes but all in all we had a great stay and the flat fulfilled our needs.
This houseboat is located in a convenient part of Amsterdam. It is a short bike ride away from great restaurants and cafes, and a very easy ten minute bike ride away from attractions such as the Rijksmuseum. It is nice inside and a comfortable place to stay.
The bikes mentioned in the listing weren't really available for our stay, and as we had three people staying in the houseboat we had to hire them, which was easily done (we hired through MacBikes). Unfortunately the museum cards had expired so we couldn't use those, but the museums are certainly worth paying for.
We got a little frustrated sometimes with having to climb inside the bedroom (not being familiar with house boats, I'm sure it's designed this way for a reason). I certainly wouldn't suggest anyone not completely able-bodied trying to get in there! But we had a comfortable enough sleep each night. Our friend didn't much like the second bed - seemed to be more like a sofa bed than a real bed, and the second bedroom is not really enclosed fully, but it wasn't the end of the world.
Karina was very helpful throughout the whole booking experience and stay. We saw lots of ducks but no swans which was a shame.
All in all we had a nice stay in Amsterdam. It's certainly a great city and staying on the water was a nice novelty.
Karina greeted us nicely and was available when we needed. The apartment was clean, have good karma and youthful design. Great neighborhood close to everywhere 5-20 min. Good restaurants, supermarket, bakery and coffee just below the house.
Highly recommend :)
Karina's houseboat is gorgeous and located in a peaceful, residential area of Amsterdam. Just far enough from the usual Amsterdam nightlight to have a little solitude but close enough to venture out in the evenings if needed. Very close to various trams and the metro. Karina is even thoughtful enough to leave transit and museum passes if needed.
The only thing to note is that there is not much in the way of late night food or shops open in the neighborhood. You may want to plan accordingly if you are a night person like myself.
The house boat was better than we anticipated! Central, clean, nicely decorated with everything we needed. My boyfriend and I ended up spending quite a bit of our time indoors as we were working, so it was important to have basic stuff available, Karina's house was excellent for that. It was easy to stay in touch with Karina and she was very responsive when we had questions. A bit of trouble with the wifi, but it was definitely something with the connection, which ended up fixed.
Great place, would recommend it to everyone for a quiet yet central location in the Dam.
The apartment was clean and located in agreat area.
We enjoied our staying very much.
Karina's floor is ideally located in Amsterdam, in the Jordaan district. Everything is available by walk and I highly recommend this very designed apartment !
Great accommodation all around - beautiful houseboat, nicely decorated, comfortable, fantastic location, great/clean facilities. Highly recommended.
Would definitely consider coming back.
Minor disappointment with bikes not being available once on location but hardly a deal breaker. Karina's also been very helpful, friendly and has good attention to details such as map and travelcards available. Icing on the cake was the ducks/swans saying hello every morning!
Can't wait to go back
Great apartment, I recommend it! The location is nice and peaceful. We'll definitely come back!
Karina has a cute boathouse which is very close to the center. We stayed ather house in November. The house was clean and very comfortable. She leaves a travel and a museum card for her guests which is a nice gesture. She also has bikes available. In the morning, beautiful swans comes to your bedroom window to wish you a great day ;) we truly enjoyed our stay at Karina's place and will stay again in the future.
Karina and her friends were excellent guests. Very nice group of girls. They left the apartment very clean. You are welcome back anytime!
Karina was a very kind and easy-talking guest.
she left the house clean and tidy.
always welcome here
hope to see you again soon!!
I was deligted to have Karina as a guest at my apt .... She now has a home away from home in Miami!!
Karina was a great guest. I highly recommend her.
I haven't met Karina personally but it all worked out perfect.
She also left the apartment very clean - brilliant guest.
I'd love to welcome you again someday!
Karina has been a close friend for ten years and is probably the most reliable, trustworthy and responsible person I know. She is caring and kind in her personal life, thorough and meticulous in business affairs. I don't think you could find a better person to rent to or from.
I have known Karina a few years now, we both used to live in Miami. She is a person you can trust hands down and also very reliable. She is also very firendly and easy to communicate with. I am sure she is the perfect guest for your place.
After meeting Karina a couple of years ago, we've become very good friends. She's seen a lot of the world and you can tell: she's laidback, outgoing, friendly, and a lot of fun to be with! I love brainstorming with her about design and can really appreciate her creativity.
I know Karina is clean and organised and will take of any place like it's hers!
