Olivia and her party stayed in our apartment in New York for 10 days. As private individuals renting our homes, we think that Trust is key in hosting guests with few or no reviews. Unfortunately, Olivia's group made us reconsider that position. Because of flights issues, they were more than 4 hours late for check-in. Being delayed is understandable but not warning the person who is waiting for you is not. instead of finding a way to call our local contact directly, Olivia sent me emails even though she knew I was in France, (and asleep at that time). Our greeting person ended up waiting until 1am with no update. Olivia's party lost one of the two sets of keys we left with them. We had to change our locks. Olivia's group broke our toilet handle which left us with a bad leak. Overall, we feel they treated our place more like a rental than a home. Having said that, Olivia's party graciously followed my suggestion and left a tip to compensate our greeting person's wait. The handle and keys issues got resolved through Airbnb eventually. And Olivia was very friendly, polite and pretty clear in communication at all times.
