Very friendly and welcoming and even offered to drive myself and a friend up the road to the wedding we were going to if I didn't want to take the car! Room was great for what we needed, nice and warm with thick quilts. For anyone wanting to stay longer there's a fridge, wardrobe and chest of drawers! Lovely little breakfast basket put together for us so we didn't have to travel anywhere before our long journey. Nice and quiet too. We did have a key mix up but Ann was fantastic at sorting it out late at night when we got back, and was very flexible with check in and check out times too - you only have to ask! Communal kitchen and living room downstairs too if you were staying longer and didn't want to stay in the room as well. Great price for location.
How charming is the town of Naburn...beautiful!!!
Ann's apartment was perfect for us and added so much to our family holiday. I would have no hesitation in recommending it, or using it again.
The house is a lovely old place with bags of character and it is very quiet there. Ann served up the most fabulous of Irish breakfasts, probably the best one on our holiday. We were also treated to a nice surprise in that the place has an indoor swimming pool plus sauna that was fab for the whole family. I recommend getting good directions from Ann on how to find it as it as Ireland doesnt have a postal code or zip code system so sat nav and web map printouts alone weren't enough for us to find it easily. We'd definitely stay again if were in that part of the world again
We stayed in the self-catering apartment for three nights. It was fairly clean and tidy and, as is mentioned, a bit rustic. The apartment is very spacious and the hosts were quite friendly. Naburn is located outside of York, but there is a bus that takes you into the city if you don't have a vehicle. The only problem we had was that the hot water was not working in the shower. Ann was working on getting this fixed. Great place for cat lovers!
Very comfortable and clean rooms which were well furnished. The open fire was great. The local pub meal suggested by the owner, Ann, was excellent. Ann was very friendly and helpful, and gave great advice on our travel plans.
This is an awesome place for couples or families to stay at! We were greeted very friendly by Ann and a bunch of super-nice dogs. The cottage has a beautiful kitchen, a comfy living room with a tempting fire place and a nice extra room with a large bed.
Everything said "stay here and feel at home", and if I had known earlier, that York is so impressive and the cottage so nice, and hadn't had plans for the next days, we would have loved to stay longer!
I booked Naburn Station for my husband and his 70yo mother to stay on their road trip around England. They told me it was perfect for shoestring budget travelers and backpackers, as the apartment is spacious with many beds, and the hosts left extremely generous breakfast supplies (cereal, eggs etc). Unfortunately, it did not fully live up to its descriptions of comfort or charm - a photo of the exterior and the bathroom would have changed my mind on making the booking at all. That said, the price was extremely reasonable and one can't expect sumptuous decor at this end of the market. Be prepared for very basic accommodation, with a friendly host.
