I'm a thirty-something living in Washington, DC but my days somtimes involve waking up in one zip code and laying my head down in another. I'm often in NYC (my hometown), Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, and many other points in between for fun and a change of scenery. I have a penchant for IPA's, bourbon, and admittedly...mimosas. I'm really into music and go to a variety of shows whenever I get the chance (seeing (email hidden) Cat in DC in 2003 for $10, and seeing Pretty Lights in Missoula, MT under a starry sky at the Big Sky Brewery are two of my favorite memories in life). I'm into photography, but strictly as a hobby, and I've been known to love shopping (if they bring back Supermarket Sweep, I need to be all up in that mix!).
When it comes to travel, I'm less about seeing and doing and more about getting a feel for the day-to-day in each place I visit; I'd rather sit at a cafe and do crosswords with my girlfriend and hit up a few local watering holes in the evening than wake up at the crack of dawn to get started on a laundry list of "to-dos."
As a host, I'm laid back and want to make sure my guests are happy and comfortable. I'm also a bit of a neat freak so, yes, I will encourage coaster usage and perhaps wipe down a counter while in the middle of a conversation (hooray multitasking and quite possibly OCD!). Other than expecting a level of respect for my space, a fun experience is what I want most for my guests.
As a guest, treating my hosts with the same level of respect that I would expect is very important. I wouldn't want someone to break any of my stuff or keep me up at night with loud music, so I definitely wouldn't do that to someone else.
I don't necessarily live my life by any single motto, but if I had to put my outlook on life into a single sentence, it would be: Have fun, be honest, drink mimosas, and don't be a dick!
