Everything was just as described. The apartment was spacious; the records were amazing; the bed was comfortable; the neighborhood delightful; and Katie left us just what we needed for breakfast. (loved the soap and shampoo too.)
Ryan and Katie's place was great. Very welcoming and clean. And in a great neighborhood. They left everything you need to be comfortable. It was so nice to stay there, we ended up staying in one night and cooking a great dinner. Their record collection is fabulous. Check in and out was very easy. I would definitely recommend.
Home is located in tree-lined, charming NE Portland neighborhood, close to restaurants, shops, grocery, park. Short drive to Downtown/I-5. We were visiting family who lives about 15 min walk/5 min drive away, so location was key for us. Place was spotless and kindly prepped with bagels, eggs, milk, OJ, tea, coffee & condiments, along with a fun record collection for our enjoyment. Would have liked a larger bed than a full size for two people, and we were aware of the older, squeaky floorboards when tenants above were walking around in the morning, but home overall was quiet and comfortable.
Ryan and Katie were fabulous hosts and made our stay in Portland exceptional. Ease of communication, epic record collection and even had bagels, eggs and coffee in the kitchen on our arrival. Couldn't ask for more! Pretty central to everything we needed but removed enough from the city to soak in the sun with peace in their gorgeous garden. Thanks for the great experience, guys!!
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Katie Jean and Ryan's home for 2 nights (this was our FIRST stay at an AirBNB place!). Their home is extremely spacious, was so clean that my girlfriend mentioned it appeared as if no one lived here as everything was absolutely spotless and neat and well taken care of. On the other hand, the place had a ton of character and homeliness to it, with old records to listen to, and explore (didn't listen but WOW what an amazing collection!), tons of natural sunlight, warm and inviting painted walls, cool artifacts from rocks collections, to unique plants and flowers to stylish rugs and hardword floors. I had the pleasure of meeting Katie Jean and she was very warm, amicable and helpful. The location was about a 10 minute bus ride from downtown in a cozy and quiet neighboorhood with yummy restaurants and a park nearby. All in all, I give it 5 stars and would highly recommend it!
We had a great time staying in the apartment! It's very cute, clean, and we felt lucky to find it on a last-minute trip to Portland. We were determined to have dinner on Mississippi Ave and hit the bars there afterwards, and the apartment was only a 15-minute walk away. My friend is a music freak and was THRILLED with the awesome record collection ... we stayed up late into the night listening to our favorites! Katie Jean was very responsive and helpful. Highly recommended.
Gorgeous little apartment with a lovely garden too, great little artefacts everywhere and we really appreciated the bagels and eggs after arriving hungry! Also, amazing collection of books and records and good speakers came in handy for our ipod! Unfortunately Ryan forgot to leave a list of suggestions for us which he'd mentioned and we would have loved internet access because as the apartment isn't central it would have made things a lot easier with regard to finding out about public transports and searching for things to do! This is especially as we're from the UK and we didn't have a phone either so not easy to even phone for advice (not many public phones around these days). It took us about 2 days to find anything but got there in the end! We'd both recommend staying here but arm yourselves with a tranport map as it'll make things easier! Thanks for letting us stay.
Ryan and Katie's house was incredible - such cute decor that it made me want to go antique shopping! Despite my late arrival time they sorted the key situation out for me, not to mention left fresh organic bagels and eggs in the fridge for breakfast. Would stay here again in a heart beat. Oh, and wait till you see their record collection...
A great apartment as promised: spacious with plenty of light, a nice porch to relax on, fast internet connection, all in a great neighborhood.
Ryan And Katie Jean left us breakfast foods (coffee, bagels, etc) to help us feel even more at home, and encouraged us to take what we wanted from their amazing garden.
Easy, no-hassle check-in/check-out and a great overall experience. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would recommend this space to anyone looking for a nice home away from home.
I enjoyed my stay! Wood floors, spacious kitchen, good quality bed. If you want peace and quiet during your stay in Portland, this is the perfect spot. (If you want interesting shops or a nightlife nearby, this neighbourhood isn't for you. Definitely a place for re-charging after a long day.) Although we didn't meet in person, the hosts were highly communicative before and throughout the stay, and offered suggestions for things to see around town. A bus line takes you right downtown, and connects with east-west routes along the way). If you're in town for a large conference like I was, the same bus takes 5-10 minutes to get to the conference center, or it's a half an hour walk, both just right for me. A large park is nearby,
