A nice "shabby chic" flat, conveniently located within walking distance from Gare du Nord for the Eurostar. The local area is nice and not to touristy, with lots of great little places to eat and drink in the evenings.
Christian was very helpful and accommodating liaising with checking in and out.
We didn't have problems looking for the place. We took a cab from Gare De Lyon to the apartment because we were lugging heavy suitcases. Jill, Christian's friend, met us to give us the key. She's really nice and she also helped us find the heater when it got really cold during our first night.
We really enjoyed our 1-week stay in Christian's very tasteful apartment. It's right in the middle of everything. It's easy to walk to the metro to go anywhere. And his apartment is really nice and comfortable with large windows that overlook the quiet park. It was raining when we stayed there but nevertheless we still enjoyed Paris.
I can see how other people would have problems with the small bathroom. For taller men, they can have problems with getting in and out of the shower. For women like me, it's hard to fit in all my things in there so i ended up putting them on the kitchen sink outside the bathroom.
Another thing is, there's no light at the hallway and staircase so we were using our cellphone as a flashlight when arriving late at night. It kind of feels like a horror movie because you can't see a thing. Good thing i had my boyfriend with me.
My boyfriend hates climbing up and down the stairs. In my case, i think of it as added exercise and would book this place again because of the good location and the nice apartment.
I noticed that when we got there, a visitor just left and Jill was still fixing the place and the day we left, another visitor was arriving. When we arrived, the CD player wasn't working and a button was pushed all the way in. I don't know if Christian already knows about this. I applaud Christian for sharing his apartment and trusting people enough with his things. I just hope the guests would take care of his things and place and there's also time for Christian to check and maintain his place.
A great apartment, it really enhanced our stay in Paris. I loved having breakfast with the windows open, and the creative decor. The shower is a bit cramped, but other than that, all good. Its in a quiet neighbourhood and the canal nearby is perfect for sitting by with a beer in the the evening. I was late arriving and Christian was very accomodating. Highly recommended
We had quite a nice stay at Christian's apartment. The location is very convenient, especially as it is so close to Gare de l'Est - where you can get to pretty much anywhere you want directly on a single metro.
The apartment itself was not as clean as we expected. It was very warm, however, and the wireless internet and phone worked very well. Except for the cramped bathroom, everything else was spacious.
The neighbourhood feels quite safe and convenient, although there is not very much to see. We ended up travelling out to more central areas for most of our stay, which was easy enough due the proximity to Gare de l'Est.
We did not meet Christian (checked in with his friend instead), but he was very responsive to emails. Thanks Christian!
Staying at Christian's really enhanced our dream Parisian vacation. The location was great; close to train & metro stations, and only a 40 minute walk from the Seine, which is more than reasonable. There were also plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from, and of course the lovely canal Saint Martin for a morning stroll. The space itself was bright, airy, and quiet, with a view of a small back garden, charming decorative accents, and a super comfortable bed (for those of you who like a solid mattress). A large closet with lots of hangers is available if, like me, you tend to travel with an extensive wardrobe. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for fresh home-cooked meals. The shower room is rather small but not impractical. Overall a great apartment! Christian was out of town but he was most helpful & prompt in all our exchanges. In addition, his friend Jill gave us a very sweet welcome. We would love to stay there again on our next visit!
Christian was extremely easy to work with - he was very responsive and helpful. He provided lots of information and gave us the info for his friend who gave us the keys. He was everything I was hoping for in a host on airbnb.
However, the apartment was not what I was hoping for. The closest metro stop on the most convenient line for our needs was located in a bad neighborhood with lots of homeless people and other questionable characters constantly hanging around. The apartment itself was clean and functional, but the shower was difficult to get in and out of, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable (a futon mattress on a bed frame). The apartment was also only walkable to neighborhoods like Le Marais if you are willing to walk for 45 minutes.
Overall, Christian is a great host and the apartment is a good value for the money, but if you've never been to Paris, consider staying in a more central neighborhood (and maybe be willing to pay more).
we enjoyed our stay at christian's apartment. the best part is the location which is extremely convenient and in a nice area. christian was also very responsive to emails which provided ease of mind for me.
this apartment was a good value.
Christian and Laetitia were lovely guests whom we would be happy to host again any time. They were quiet, polite, and neat, and definitely charming. Christian is reasonably proficient in English, and we found communication was pretty easy with both of them. I only wish I knew more French!
