AJ's place was perfectly located for what we doing in the area. It was cute and I loved the large windows and exposed brick. The place could use some towel hooks, but other than that, it's good. I spoke to AJ briefly on the phone and he gave me instructions on where to find the key. He made it all very easy.
The apartment is really nice and well equipped and in a very convenient location if you need to go to the Convention Centre. It was tidy but not fully clean. It was ok for me but maybe some people with dust allergy could suffer a bit but in general was ok. The only point I missed was to have more information prior to my arrival. I knew in the very last moment that I had to go to another place to take the key. I would have liked to have this information before my arrival. I highly recommend it.
I had a great experience at AJ's place. The room was perfect for my needs, and the house is one mile from the Takoma metro stop. AJ was very welcoming.
We booked a last minute trip to RVA for New Years and AJ's place worked out great. Can walk to lots of bars, restaurants, YMCA, Jefferson, amd VCU. Tarrants is right across the street with great bartenders and good food.
Good size apartment a quick bike ride to the state capitol, Carytown, pretty much everywhere else in central Richmond, and for workouts just a block from the downtown Y. I didn't get to meet A.J. but he was good to deal with via text/phone.
I enjoyed my two-night stay here. The location made it easy to get to most places--it's walking distance to the Main Street train station, the historical downtown area, even Belle Isle. There are a lot of theaters, art studios, and restaurants less than a few blocks away. The space was a vintage apartment with high ceilings. AJ was really responsive on email and the phone. Upon my arrival, he gave me clear instructions for getting into the building, etc. I didn't experience any problem.
Totally enjoyed my stay at this cute Richmond apartment. So many places I could walk to, restaurants, shops and lots of historic sites. AJ was always easy to reach if I needed anything. Also as a female traveling alone always felt very safe. The YMCA gym is a block away and a large well stocked gym. And also could walk to the river over the foot bridge!
This was my first time using Airbnb, A.J. responded quickly and promptly. The apartment was wonderful and located in a great area.
Great location, very spacious place, easily worth the amount I paid.
Overall our stay was great - location was perfect for walking (in our case to nearby VCU), parking was never an issue (lots of free 2-hour spots that are only regulated during the day, so if you are out by noon and back by 4pm you're straight), and many restaurants and watering holes in the area.
With that said, unfortunately we had a negative experience on our second day at this apartment. When we arrived in the evening we found a note from maintenance on our door. After letting our host know via a phone call he said there had been an issue with the water heater and that maintenance would be by to replace a switch sometime the next day (annoying, but the shower was hot for us that night, so no big deal for a quick repair). Fast forward to the next day, maintenance arrived at 9:30am and informed us they where installing a completely new water heater. This put us in an extremely awkward place as they and the building management they put us on the phone with knew nothing about Airbnb or our arrangement/accommodations, so unable to touch base with our host and fearing we would somehow lose our place to stay if we denied the repair, we allowed them to go ahead and do their thing.
The repair was not completed until 9 hours later at 6:30pm - during this time we had no water, no toilets, and no contact from our host via text until after the repair was finished.
We definitely feel like we lost a day here, and on a trip where I was prepping for a meeting in town the morning of the incident, I was definitely rattled when that needn't had been the case. The rest of our stay was fine, but given the circumstances we definitely feel like we were slighted financially and our concerns the day of not addressed until all was said and done.
