Jenny and Ian are mature, active, outgoing, friendly, and enjoy people. Jenny, a Texan, met Ian in his native country of New Zealand, and they married in 2009.

We enjoy having people use our home as a hub while they experience all that Austin has to offer. We are well traveled throughout the US, UK, Europe, Africa, and New Zealand. Our current favorite destination is Atawhai, NZ, a suburb of Nelson, at the top of the South Island, and both of us have also lived in 3rd-world countries. We enjoy volunteering, both locally and overseas. When we travel, we prefer to stay with locals, to immerse ourselves in the culture, language, food, etc. We want you to feel comfortable here -- and that's the feedback we've gotten from guests over the years: that it's refreshing, a nurturing space, a welcoming home away from home. We look forward to meeting you!

We each run our own businesses -- proofreading/copyediting and landscaping/home maintenance. We're active in our church, are season subscribers to the theatre, and regularly attend Jazzercise and Pilates. Jenny loves to sail (racing, working foredeck) and sings in the choir. Ian likes to cycle around the city -- to jobs or just to see what's out there. In fact, he knows Austin better than Jenny does, though she's been here much longer than he has.

One thing Jenny loves is her Prius. We both appreciate the environment and natural resources, and we conserve and recycle as much as possible.

Ian has a passion for gardening and has turned the front yard into a vegetable garden, though the Austin summers do take their toll! His background is sheep and cattle farming in NZ, where he also worked with severely autistic and intellectually handicapped adults.
