You'll feel out of place until one day, you discover that you — like everyone around you — love Arrested Development, work for a startup, wear the ubiquitous American Apparel hoodie, do yoga, and love Indian, Ethiopian, and Thai food almost as much as you love whiskey cocktails. And then you will know that you have arrived.
I like to fly by the seat of my pants when traveling: arrive, go for a long run, and discover things I want to see in my host city. I want to ask locals what's good. I want to see a world I'd never find in a tour book. Surprise me; it's improbable that I will be disappointed.
