Friendly California native lives with husband and two young kids nearby. We enjoy travel, cooking, reading, and exploring our great region. We're happy to give tips about SF and its region.
We stayed 19 days and the apartment is in a wonderful part of the city with fantastic views and restaurants nearby.... Farley's coffee place is the neighbourhood hangout and before long you will be feeling one of the residents. The apartment itself is clean, very comfortable, although we didn't meet Sarah communication was superb and we felt very much at home here. As previous reviewers have said there is noise from upstairs but if you stay in anything that's not a new build in SF you will come across this. We loved the area and would happily stay here again.....
I staid there for about a week for work. The apartment is nice and has all commodities I needed. Searching for weak points, I could say that 1) the view from the apartment is limited, this is a ground floor with small windows, and 2) at least bus n°10 that goes to downtown stops at about 7pm , which is a bit early (I think n°22 that goes to Mission is available at later time). Overall, the apartment is really nice and cheap and I would absolutely consider staying there again.
Sarah's garden apartment was a great place to stay in San Francisco. The neighbourhood itself is really lovely and quiet with great views of the city, great restaurants nearby, and easy access to buses and a trolley line to get downtown. Also, a quick cab ride at the end of the night.
The apartment was neat and tidy when we got there, was spacious enough for a couple, and had plenty of facilities for a short holiday stay. Sarah was very quick to respond to enquiries, and even got things fixed around the house as we reported them.
The noise from the upstairs apartment which has been mentioned exists, and is especially loud when people are walking around at night. This really didn't bother me personally, but is something to consider if you're a light sleeper.
Would stay again!
My boyfriend and I had a great stay!
The place was clean and in a great location!
Sarah was easy to talk to by emails.
It's free to park your car in the street, you just have to be comfortable with big hills!
If we go back to SF, we would love to stay there again!
Thank you Sarah!
This is a great apartment with nice access to the city. Good location with restaurants and a Whole Foods nearby. The bed would probably be a little small for 2 people and you can definitely hear whomever lives upstairs when they walk around. Overall a great place though!
This apartment is definitely great! I really love the view from the mountain in the night. Sarah is really a nice person. She is willing to answer all our puzzles. Easy access to public transportation and great bruches nearby. I would recommend this apartment to anyone who want to have a fantasic time in SF!
This is a lovely flat in a great location. Sarah is a well-organised, very friendly and helpful host. I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it to others.
Portrero Hill is a lovely area full of little restaurants and has a very relaxing atmosphere. Sarah's apartment is perfect for 2 persons and has everything you need in it. The neighbor upstairs is a bit noisy but after an entire day visiting we had no difficulty to fall asleep. The center is easily reachable by bus and if you rent a car there's no problem to park near the house. Great stay in SF, we would rent it again.
Great cheap apartment in a very cozy neighborhood, which we thought really is the essence of San Francisco.
Public transport into the city does take +35 minutes though, and isn't that easy in the nighttime, but what we saved on the apartment compared to a downtown place, many times over paid for our cap rides.
Other reviews mention the noise from the upstairs neighbors, which you can hear yes, but if you ever shared a house or apartment with others before, it's not bad at all, and we had no trouble sleeping when we wanted to, or for as long as we wanted.
I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a cheap place in SF, and Sarah is a wonderful person and host.
Ths was a very good experience. Everything went as I was told it
would and we found our host to be up front and accurate and we
would do this again. We did feel a little cramped in the shower area
and really did not need a full kitchen but otherwise were pretty
comfy and would certainly go this route again.
Sarah was a loving guest, in town for a professional conference, and was frequently 'out and about' at the seminar or dining with friends. I think my home location was close to both of these venues, and that allowed Sarah to walk to these near-by locations. I'm hoping to see Sarah next year when she is in town again for the annual event.
