Very friendly, social and honest person who expects the same from others.
I guarantee you will have a great service and experience in my apartment.
My boyfriend and I felt let down by the apartment. The place was not up to the standards described here.
The bright side: the apartment is in a awesome location. Chris was great at communicating with us in planning the trip and prepared to help with the taxi incident described below.
The downer: Check-in set the tone. Chris arranged for us to pick up the keys in Williamsburg, a 15-minute taxi ride from the apartment. We were coming at night from the airport after a 5-hour flight so the extra step to reach the apartment was a bummer and turned out more expensive for the taxi fare. Then, we reached the apartment on the 5th floor without elevator so we logged our suitcases up a narrow staircase. The pictures show a "very large living room", bright and tidy space. We found a very small place with the smell of cigarette, a slanted floor, a bedroom off the kitchen area so small that the bed barely fit and a metal rack with lots of shoes. Household things were crammed in every corner, a blanket lied on the floor behind the toilet. The shower light is fun but the shower is tiny and the curtain smelled foul. A broken coat rack held up with a broom stick duck taped to it. The window shade in the bedroom was taped on the wall so it wouldn't open, and the bed comforter was too narrow for two people to sleep under.
Overall, our stay was uncomfortable and disappointing and we will not come back.
Really good place, perfect location, and very clean.
I stayed in Chris's apartment for a whole week and I really enjoyed the place. The location is perfect to enjoy the great city of Manhattan and all it has to offer. Many restaurants, pubs, shops, and just a few steps from the metro station.
Chris was a perfect host, attentive and provides everything you need (hair dryer, iron, ... and even a mobile phone!). Only one minor warning. The apartment is in the forth floor and there is no elevator. Not a big problem, but must be taken into account in case of traveling with elderly people. I fully recommend Chris's apartment, and it certainly be my first choice when I return to New York.
Chris was a great host, this was my first experience with Airbnb and it went great. The apartment is just the right size for 2 people. Really like the showerhead in the bathroom -- it glowed different colors. Host kept in constant contact with us and was quick with all responses.
Chris's place was clean and exactly as described on airbnb. We enjoyed the neighborhood, felt safe and had no problem getting anywhere we wanted to go. We particularly enjoyed being able to get away from the crowds and noise and be a part of a charming neighborhood. The only drawback for us was that there was not a TV. After walking for 8-10 hours sightseeing every day, it would've been nice to just put our feet up and (email hidden) before retiring for the evening. Chris did a good job of communicating with us and coordinated everything very well even though he was out of town. It was a positive experience.
Great place, excellent neighborhood! The appartment is very nice and clean. Chris was prompt and always available for questions. We very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you Chris!
I stayed in Chris's apartment for a little over a week for a business trip to New York. You cannot beat it for location. The West Village is beautiful and it has everything you can possibly need. If you just so happen to be in the mood for a neck massage, followed by Starbucks and have your hair done (which is what I was in desperate need for after horrible journey) it is literally on your doorstep along with every other conceivable convenience. The apartment itself is on the 5th floor (for Brits out there that means 4th floor) with no lift but, apart from getting your bags up there for the first time, it feels like a hop, skip and a jump. It is small but balanced, there is just enough room in every room. The walls are on the thin side but this is New York and I personally love having that feeling of privacy while feeling like you're in the middle of it all. Another gold star has to go to Chris who was amazing on communication. This is a rarity in New York and apart from 2 other AIRBNB hosts I have not come across it. You absolutely want a good communicator with AIRBNB. I didn't meet Chris as he wasn't in the city at them time but he had a friend standing by to deal with any problems (I didn't have any). Chris himself was brilliant at checking that I had everything I needed when I arrived. I had a small issue on my first night and he was responded and helped me deal with it immediately. I don't know exactly where he was but it 100% didn't matter, I felt like he was right there all the time. He clearly takes his role as host seriously. Public transport is a breeze, great restaurants - too numerous to mention, and for anyone concerned about safety - ludicrously safe. The other advantage this apartment has is value for money. Considering the location, it's well priced. I only have one word of warning! Magnolia bakery - it is around the corner and open until 11pm. At busy times there is a line around the block but if you're actually living around the corner it's impossible to escape!
The apartment is a small walk up in a truly million dollar location. We loved every moment of our stay and the only shame is it was too short to explore the area and get to know it really well. The apartment is very quiet, extremely warm and cosy. Everything you need is a short distance away - river, fabulous cafes, laundry services, and best-kept-secret restaurants tucked away in the side streets of the West Village. Chris was a terrific host and went to a lot of trouble to get keys to us in advance. Communication was excellent and he was very relaxed which made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended, only hope we can come back again some day.
Great host. Made sure I was happy, comfortable and communicated regularly to see if I needed anything.
We stayed at Chris's apartment for 6 days (not long enough!) and the best part for us, was to actually feel like part of the exciting West Village neighborhood, living right in the middle of the street life. Chris was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble, he arrived promptly to meet us for check in,(despite our flight being 3 hours late!) carried our bags up the stairs, and provided everything we needed, (even a hair straightener!) Along with comprehensive information about NYC, a local mobile phone, fully stocked fridge with yummy breakfast foods and wine, Chris made sure we were all settled in before leaving us to our NY adventure. Highlight of our stay, among so many, was meeting Sarah Jessica Parker (she lives on Charles St around the corner!). The apartment is very clean and comfortable, a great base for your visit, close to Starbucks, restaurants, shopping and subway. The apt is best described as a stylish bachelor pad with everything you need:) Very, very quiet by night and felt incredibly safe. Over all I had a fantastic time and would definitely stay here again, cant wait to come back!
Chris was a wonderful host, who was very accommodating and made the whole process very easy. From making sure we knew how to get to his apartment, to making sure the fridge was stocked and there was wine on hand....even carried my bags up the stairs! Chris had it all covered. Couldnt have asked to stay in a better location while in NYC, was a very quiet friendly neighborhood. Apartment was a little small for three people to stay without walking all over each other, but for 2 people I wouldnt go past this apartment!
Chris and his girlfriend were very friendly and full of enthusiasm. He left the apartment very tidy. I would totally recommend him!
Chris was an ideal guest! he left my place clean, was very polite and it he a pleasure to communicate with. i would definitely host him again and i recommend him. Thanks Chris!
A hospital host, welcoming friend, and flexible guest, I have been lucky to know Chris in many respects, and consider him to be one of the most kind people I know who is generous in spirit and has a contagious joy for life.
Chris I have known for over 5 years since we both lived in London. He has always had a passion for traveling and having fun but always has amazed me at the good grip on real life he has while doing so. When I met him in London his apartment was clean, and stylish. Chris is also a great host/friend when i came to NY for a visit he introduced me to his friends and took me to social gatherings, I had a blast, all of his friends are such nice intelligent people. I would have him as a guest in any place and situation since he is kind and considerate, tidy and fun, and well travelled.
Chris has a wonderful enthusiasm for people and for New York. He's made good standards for himself in the city and found a lovely place in the heart of the west village. Always considerate and eager to please, you're sure to have a good stay.
I've known Chris for several years, and he's truly one of the most positive and helpful people -- maybe in all of Manhattan. He's a great host, and with all his good vibes, I'm sure he's an excellent traveler as well. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys people who enjoy life.
