Alex was a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome. He was exceptionally accommodating and friendly. His apartment was clean, stylish and comfortable. The apartment is centrally located and close to many amenities. I would recommend this space to anyone. You will not be disappointed.
Top 10 reasons to stay at Alex's in North Bay
1. Very welcoming space makes it feel like a friend's house but much cleaner than any of my friends' places
2. Alex was very generous with the foods that he had spread out for us.
3. The shower head was amazing.
4. Very central to where we were heading to and also close to the highway and grocery store.
5. Alex is great at communicating with his guests before arrival and during the stay.
6. Lavender soap and layrite hair pomade.
7. Big tv and acoustic guitar.
8. Peaceful sleep
9. Coffee machine!
10. Much better than staying at a hotel! Thank you Alex!
We stayed at Alex's apartment over the weekend and had a great stay. The place is excellent and has a well equipped kitchen, Alex has made it a real inviting and relaxing space. You can see that he has put a lot of care in the design/decor.
We've stayed at both the Hampton and Holiday Inn in North Bay and this is by far a nicer experience. We brought our son (~1.5 year old) who was able to be put down to sleep in the room (we brought a playpen) while we stayed up longer - a definite bonus over staying in a one room hotel!
Alex was a great host and was very accommodating to all of our requests. He really went out of his way to make it a great experience.
We will definitely stay here again!

This airbnb is one great kept secret right now, but I'm sure the word will travel that this place is far better than some stale hotel room. Alex has done a fabulous job turning his apartment into an oasis for travelers on business or people like me who were simply passing through town on the way to somewhere else. Let me say that he has thought of everything. I was totally impressed. It's stays like this that reinforce my theory that private airbnbs will change the hotel standards.
This airbnb is in a very quiet and private apartment block on the edge of one of the nicest neighbourhoods in North Bay. I thought the block was a bit sketchy at first but the other tenants are quiet and polite. A quick 10-15 minute walk down Clarence (turns into Nipissing Street), leads to the beach and the beach front homes on the other side of the tracks. There many public access points down to the sand. Be sure to meander down any of the other streets heading back to Alex's apartment to see a slice of life in North Bay. I didn't have time see the downtown area.
Back at the apartment, cook a vegan meal, hook up your Netflix and settle in. Choose between a late night coffee with his stocked Keurig machine or Martini Bar. I help myself to a Bourbon on ice. Yum. What a Royal treat! Just don't abuse this offering whatever you do because the bar might dry up before the next guest has a chance to partake. After a this long day, I crashed in a super comfy bed with (I think) memory foam pillows. Wow.
Alex has got a great thing going. I'll be back.
When I think of my stay in North Bay, the first thing word that comes to my mind is "WOW!". This was one of the finest, cost effective stay we had in all our trips in N.America.
A fully furnished apartment, a beautiful kitchen with groceries stacked (I wish my home had a similar one), and friendly nature of Alex - all combined to make our stay very comfortable.
Alex, a total vegan, and music aficionado politely requested us to come a bit late since we were booking less than 24 hrs prior and he needed some time to keep apartment ready for us which is actually great. Also he took into consideration our breakfast preference (remember - he is a vegan but thats just adds another dimension to your travel) and had kept music playing on his TV as a welcome for us. The printout to restaurants around was also handy and although he himself stays there when no guests are visiting still there was no pamphlet handed to us with strict rules for his home (which really takes out all fun of apartment stay), rather with a touch of humor that not to touch his expensive wine :)
Alex has also kept brochures of cycle routes around Ontario.
I would highly recommend this to anyone planning a stay in and around the beautiful town of North Bay
Alexandre and his lady were very nice. kind respecful. Even though they were only here for a short period of time, they seemed very nice. I would welcome them to come and visit again. :)
