Hello, I am half way between Bali (where I produce my designs) and Madrid, where I sell them in my shop!!
By the way...I design and produce Roman mosaics, take a look: (website hidden)
Fantastic location for those who want a relaxed break away from all the busy tourist traps of Bali . The house is very stylish with superb flavours of traditional Balinese life . The best seafood in Bali at your doorstep with the beach 2 minutes away . Pedro has created a classical villa in a safe & secluded haven. Wayan the Balinese house keeper is such a gem .
Pedro's house provided just what we were looking for in a vacation rental. My boyfriend and I left feeling our stay was far too short. The street only has two other homes on it so it is quiet and relaxing. Yet, you are in easy proximity to Kuta and Sanur by car. It is literally less than five minutes walk to Jimbaran beach (end of the driveway, cross the road), and you can hear the ocean as you sit on the lanai. The warungs along the beach prepare a delicious meal of fish, rice and vegetables.
The house is charming and quaint and the indoor/outdoor living space is lovely! Be sure to use the insect repellent as the mosquitos are vicious, especially in rainy season. The kitchen is simple, but that was perfect for us. I enjoyed making coffee on the stovetop and warming up food on the stove rather than in a microwave. Morning and evening offerings (Hindu) are presented at the front gate which created an atmosphere for meditation and quiet reflection. If you're lucky, the neighbor's dog, Pinky, may decide to visit.
What really made this vacation memorable was the staff. Miss Wayan is an absolutely beautiful person who provided delicious breakfasts and even dinner upon request. We looked forward to seeing her every morning! Win, who happens to be her son-in-law, provided our transpo to/from the airport, as well as day trips around the island. Win is not just an excellent driver. He is a bright, delightful young man with a heart as big as the ocean that surrounds the island.
Pedro's assistant, Susi, was at the house to greet us on our arrival, even though she had been recently injured in a motor bike accident. She was gracious and helpful and full of great suggestions for our stay. She even emailed a map and a list of area restaurants and sites prior to our visit.
My only wish was that there was wi-fi service in the house. It does not have a TV, which is fine, but there were occosions when we wanted to send photos to family and friends or access the internet. I highly recommend this house if you are looking to enjoy Balinese life and traditions. We would stay here again without hesitation.
We stayed in this house for six nights and had a great time. The house is located in a very quiet lane, with no traffic except for one neighbour. The house is spacious and all you need on holidays, and is very clean. The main bedroom is very comfortable and the bathroom, which is partially outdoors, feels quite luxurious. The guest room however is small and our two tall boys found the beds too short. There are more sofa like. This room would suit small children. The guest bathroom is great. The kitchen has everything you need and you can cook simple meals if you want to, though we didn't. The verandah is a nice spot to read and very peaceful at night. You are across the road from the middle of Jimbaran Bay, which is good for running in the morning before it gets hot and a must-see in the late afternoon when people fill the entire length of the beach doing everything from getting married to playing soccer. We found the northern seafood restaurants the best. Avoid all if they are too smoky from the restaurant bbqs. Note: the seafood is not local; it is all brought in frozen from Java. We spent most of our time exploring the world class surf beaches in south Kuta. These are only about 30 mins away by scooter. Jimbaran is a good place to base yourself if you want to explore south Kuta. And the highlight of this house is the wonderful housekeeper, Wayan, who will go to the markets for you and prepare you a delicious breakfast. She is a gem. Also, Susie, the owner's assistant is a wealth of information.
