I love you to give a home-emotion!
Torneremo!! Grazie Alessandro!
This is a beautiful apartment, we loved it, and over the course of 12 days there, it really started to feel like home. The view across Modica is breathtaking, and the location is ideal - very central. It's stylishly done up inside and would make the perfect summer destination. However, we went for Christmas and New Year and it quickly became clear that the house wasn't equipped for the very cold nights during winter. Heating is rudimentary, and when we had all the heaters on and cooked upstairs, there wasn't enough electricity to power the house. So we had numerous power cuts. Also, the house description doesn't mention that the kitchen doesn't have an oven - it's a convection microwave so we were limited to stovetop cooking (which was fine but frustrating over Christmas!). Also worth knowing that the house wifi is very basic and unreliable.
Apart from these things, we did really love the house though, and would definitely stay there again, but in the summer months. The team who look after it are charming and were very helpful, even though it was Christmas and we kept calling them with questions.
The apartment is perfectly located just a short walk up from the shopping district in Modica. The view from the deck is truly amazing. And the architectural design of the apartment is very unique. The owner was difficult to reach during our stay, however, which led to a miscommunication about our arrival time. He also was also slow to respond to subsequent emails. The apartment lacks some basic amenities, including functional wi-fi (which didn't work much of the time, and when it did was limited to the lowest level) and soap and towels in the lower bathroom. The bedroom pillows were thin and hard, making sleep uncomfortable.
Wir 4 - 2 Erwachsene & 2 Kids - hatten uns in dieser coolen Villa von der 1. Stunde an sehr wohlgefühlt. ;-))
We were welcomed in the glorious cottage with a delicious Italian spread of homemade jams, fresh vegetables and fruit from their garden, homemade cakes and biscuits. Al and Simone were always on hand for anything we needed.
Someone waited for us upon arriving, to give us the key and show us around the place. Compared to other AirBnb experiences in Italy, this one was very generous with their time, and giving us recommendations for where to visit, where to eat, the nearest grocery store, etc.
The place itself is in a great location, and not on a super busy street, so it's nice and quiet in the evenings. It's not huge, but for 3 of us, it was a perfect size for traveling. They also left shampoo and body wash for us, which not all airbnb's did, and was great since we were running out of our travel-sized items. The place itself was clean, well kept, and generally perfect for our needs. There was a french press that we used for coffee, which was a life-saver.
Overall, great place, and I highly recommend!
Eleanora's place was clean and beautifully decorated. It was very centrally located and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom are compact, but they work! There is a restaurant courtyard downstairs that had some noisy tourists in the evening hours, but not an issue as we went to bed around midnight.
We enjoyed staying at this apartment. It is neat, comfortable and well equipped! It is located not far from the sea with a quite and friendly atmosphere.
We were met by the letting agent who gave us a tour of the property and helpfully gave us a short introduction to the local area.
The apartment is well situated in Modica and conveniently very central, close to restaurants, bars and the main sights of the town. Ideal for exploring the town without having to use a car to get around during your stay. It's also close enough to both Noto and Syracuse to make day trips easy (both highly recommended).
The flat is set over a number of floors, with the main living room and dining area on the ground floor. Two bedrooms on the second floor, although we were advised by the agent that we were to sleep in the smaller and less impressive room which was a tad disappointing given the views from the main bedroom were superior.
The main attraction though was the roof terrace which caught the sunshine all day and well into the evening. Ideal for a relaxing night in with a glass of wine.
We enjoyed our time in Modica, but would probably look to stay in Noto or Syracuse next time as they have a wider range of restaurants and facilities. That said, Modica is a welcome retreat for a few days.
