We are a family of 4 with two adorable little girls ages 4 and 5. We are ready to start taking trips with them and to show them as much as we can and to enjoy each other as a family doing it.

The Wood House was the perfect escape from the city. It's quiet and fairly secluded without being too far from civilization. No problems with the road or driveway despite the snow.
Colin was a very kind host. We drove to the house in a snowstorm, and he texted us a few times just to make sure we made it alright, the driveway was plowed, and the house was warm. He made sure we felt comfortable, and we really appreciated it. The pellet stove in the house was amazing, and once we got it going, the house was toasty through a particularly cold weekend.
A great place to stay and get out of city life for the weekend. Cozy and warm. Plenty of peace and quiet.
Colin's Wood House was great for a two night skiing vacation with the family. The house was plenty large enough for myself, my wife, and our two daughters. The stove and baseboard heating kept us warm, the water was hot, and the full kitchen allowed us to prepare food for the family and not rely on vacation takeout. The only downside, which was not Colin's fault, was that we chose a weekend of a huge ice storm to visit and ended up getting stuck in the driveway the next morning. Colin came to the rescue and made sure to have the driveway sanded over that day so that we wouldn't get stuck again. He even found an alternate driveway for us to park in if we were still concerned but it wasn't necessary. We were very impressed that Colin tried so hard to make sure that we had an enjoyable stay. The cabinet stocked with board games was a nice touch and I enjoyed teaching my daughters how to play Parcheesi (or as they called it, "Trouble without the bubble").
We had a wonderful stay at the Wood House over the New Year's weekend. Colin made sure the pellet stove was going before we arrived, and after an adjustment on the thermostat, it kept us nice and warm for the entire trip.
The remoteness of the house and the property was a big draw for us, and the windows all around provided great light inside.
Colin was quick and responsive to our inquiries, and let us know about nearby places such as the Putney Food Co-op.
On the last day we did have some trouble leaving, as the driveway had some snow and ice on it. Colin tried to help remotely, though in the interest of time I managed to shovel and put pellets down on the driveway so that the car would make it to the road (note: have a good AWD car here in the winter).
I would definitely come back to the Wood House, though perhaps next time during the Fall or Spring when we could enjoy the outdoor activities in the area more.
Great house, very relaxing, wish I could have stayed longer, pellet stove keeps the house nice and warm, bed is very comfortable, clean and updated bathroom, everything I could have asked for. Will defiantly be back again.
Our stay at the Wood House was pretty much exactly what we were hoping for after the hustle and bustle of the Christmas holiday. The house itself is very secluded about 8 miles away from the closest town, so we felt very much "off the grid." It has a modern feel while also being simple and cozy. The wood pellet stove was great and was easy to use, plus it was already on and ready for us before we arrived! We also loved the king sized bed in the loft and the large windows throughout the house overlooking the woods. This was the perfect sized space for my boyfriend, me, and my little dog Jack! A couple things to be aware of: the roads are not paved near the house so it's a good thing we had an AWD SUV to make it through the muddy and icy roads! This is not uncommon though in rural Vermont, so this really should go without saying. Also, there is no TV, which was not a huge deal because there is fast internet so we were able to easily watch shows or movies on our laptop. Overall, it was a great location- not too far from picturesque Vermont towns or ski areas like Stratton or Mount Snow, but still far enough off the beaten path for a thoroughly relaxing break!
The house is well maintained and in an idyllic setting in the woods. It is only made more beautiful by all the natural light, which pours through the numerous, uncurtained windows (read: bring a sleeping mask if you are disturbed by morning light and be thankful there are no close neighbors.) The pellet stove can be persnickety. However, the owner's brother, Tim is close by if assistance is needed. He is both an excellent fire wrangler and story teller.
Colin was an excellent host. He was super responsive with giving us instructions for how to get to the house, enter, and make ourselves comfortable even checking with us during our stay.
The house itself is a great location. It's tucked into the woods about 7 miles from town with a few hiking trails nearby. A great place to get away from it all. Not necessarily near any lakes, but definitely in the middle of nature.
The interior of the house is very cozy with a nice fireplace that keeps the house toasty, a comfy couch, nice table to sit down etc. The loft is pretty separate, but if you have more than 2 in your party, it does lack a bit of privacy.
We were super comfortable during our stay.
Great, cute little house with an amazing deck! We enjoyed our stay thoroughly, and Colin was always prompt in answering my questions.
