I've been running safari biz over 20 years in Polonnaruwa. I love our beautiful jungle and elephants. It is my wish to let people show our wonderfulness of Sri Lanka as many as possible.

Room is very nice, bathroom is very good aswell.
Didnt let us use Wifi or TV altough it seemed to work.
Frogs came out of the sink in the bathroom.
He helped us with trainstation drop off.
Bike rental is not for free.
I highly recommend staying with Manju. The cottage is extremely clean and comfortable- we stayed 3 nights. It's location within a neighborhood means it's both low on traffic but delightfully alive with people and nature (peacocks, mongoose, parakeets, etc). Manju provided bikes so we were able to explore the neighborhood, the ruins, the town, and the lake. We loved the chance to just gently cruise around, a sharp contrast to all the climbing in Dambulla and Sigiria, and the walking in Kandy and Anuradhapura. Biking around Polonnauwa was a highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka.
Another joy was simply getting to know Manju and his family. They are wonderful people who create amazing spaces and experiences for guests in their country. I would trust them to provide you with whatever you want- a tour, a bike ride, a massage, a great meal. Thank you Manju!
Manju is very nice and the room is very clean and comfortable. The dinner is very delicious.
Clean and spacious and quiet. A little out of the way but nothing a short ride in a tuk tuk can't fix. Weak wifi. No mosquito nets which was uncomfortable.
I spent 4 fantastic days at Manjula's villa. The villa is really modern and clean with more than I needed including a new computer/internet, wide screen TV and efficient aircon.
Manjula's organised everything for my exploration of the ancient cities.
We also had an enjoyable safari amongst elephants, monkeys, eagles and peacocks. Manjula and his lovely wife and children are great hosts, the food is great, the villa with independent entrance is spacious and stylish. Manjula suggested changes to my itinerary which meant I was able to see a lot more. He even drove me to Kandy where I met some of his friends and are a big Sei Lankan feast on the last night.
He also organized my rail tickets to Hikkadua. I highly recommend this place. Manjula is well connected and makes things happen! Very professional, all reasonably priced.
Our experience with Samagi guesthouse was delightful. We were greeted by Nami, the hostess of the place. She took the attention to make sure we settled down and ordered food for us. Room service dinner was efficient and plentiful. It provided a great, convenient food option, since going out for dinner might be inconvenient.
They also provided our driver accommodation for very cheap. If you have a driver, make sure to ask about it.
Outside the guesthouse there were many harmless giant bats. They are active at night and come back to sleep in the morning by hanging off of a tree. Our sleep is not affected by them, and they're truly beautiful creatures.
Accommodation modern, clean, & comfortable. Fast internet connection. Good location & pick up service from station was perfect. Host orgsnised visits/safari for us. He was polite, helpful, & welcoming.
I can't imagine there's a better place to stay in Polonnaruwa than Manjula's. The rooms are really clean, the bathroom is really modern and the cottages have a big living and dining room. The surrounding area seems very safe and it is perfectly quiet. The food was so delicious, cooked by Manjula himself. He is a very kind and helpful person, who wants the guests to get to know Sri Lanka better. He organized a safari for us and even took us to a festival at the local temple twice just to show us Sri Lankan culture. If we come back to Polonnaruwa we will stay here again!
Manjul and his staff treated us well. Good advice, kind, and patient.
The facility is actually a cottage style inn rather than traditional AirBNB housing.
Because of this the cottages are roomy and more private. I believe each cottage has 2 rooms and 2 beds in each.
The cottage was well-equipped with living and dining room. Very comfortable. Living room had a soft sofa, computer, and good size TV.
We ate all our meals outside, which was cool and relaxing, so never used the dining room.
Beds were great. Thick and soft mattresses. Sheets were clean. A/C was strong and useful. Also had a fan in the ceiling. No mosquito net, but we were never worried about that problem.
Only complaint was seeing ants, but we switched rooms without a problem. And the ants seemed to mind their own business, so didn't bother us.
We did the elephant safari which is operated by the same company. We were lucky to see lots of elephants up close. And lots of birds too. It was a big bite in our travel budget, but in the end worth the experience.
The Jeep was older, but in like that kind of thing. If you want newer vehicles, then you'll probably have to pay more elsewhere, I'm guessing.
Overall, good stay. A little farther from city center, but that's the price you pay for a peaceful place. Besides, not much to do in Polonnaruwa city anyway.
We stayed three nights. The room was quite small but still okay. The shared bathroom was modern and clean. We had a/c and a fan in our room.
Breakfast was served outside in the small garden. Once we had dinner, but we didn't liked it so much. Quality was good, but it didn't matched our taste.
Manjula is a friendly host and can arrange safari trips, bikes and more if you need.
