It was a great stay at the Damia. its located right by the Bab Ziat which is away from the chaos of the medina. We were the only people staying at the medina for most of the time so I can't say how it would be like during busy season but we were very happy. the rooms are big so they do take a while to warm up in the cold months, as does the water. the beds are comfortable and the staff is very pleasant. They didn't have many recommendations as far as places to go int he medina. they mostly recommended the main streets which we weren't really looking for. Luckily we had a friend who took us around. I would find it hard to get around without a guide to be honest. overall, it was a very nice stay. the only thing i found a bit odd was that as we were walking out the door to leave the riad, our hosts asked us to pay them for the tea we had during our stay. they charged us 50 Dh. i guess I'm just accustomed to the tea being a part of the stay but it would have been nice to have been told the cost when asking for the tea.
Yes, you are right all what we eat or drink in the Riad is billed. Moroccan tea is 15 Dh per personn. We offer the first tea and a local pastry as welcome drink at arrival. I am sorry you did not sea our tarif. Wish you all the best -
Riad Damia is even more beautiful than the photos, it's absolutely gorgeous! And the staff made us feel very comfortable and attended to our every need. They were also very accommodating when we had a last minute change to our itinerary. The breakfasts were much nicer than the standard continental fare. The location is great, but, like anything in the medina, can be hard to find. Luckily, Fes residents are very helpful and were happy to guide us back to the guesthouse.
We stayed four nights in this lovely Riad in Fes. The pictures seemed to good to be true but they were not. It was like an oasis in the buzz and heat of the day filled with all things old and interesting. In the medina but a short walk a way from the main tourist action, this riad is extremely well situated. The owner and his one man team of assistance were welcoming and helpful. The food and service is good and I would strongly recommend this riad to anyone.
Do you dream to feel like a real Sultan or Shakherizada? Be sure, you are on a right way!
Riad Damia is a real palace which has an old history. Walls, ceilings, doors, the fountain - everything makes special impression and surprises. But all this magnificence won't be compared to the owner of this palace Farid and his assistant and their real east hospitality!
Farid made everything that our stay in Fes was remembered forever. And moreover Farid and his assistant made pleasant impression about Fes and even about all country!
I think to travel across Morocco and not to come to Riad Damia is not to receive a half of impressions.
If you want one day to wake up in a real east fairytale… welcome to Riad Damia!
Riad Damia was exceptionally beautiful and Farid was a wonderful host. The Riad is easily accessible by car and only a short 10 minute walk to many restaurants and shops in the medina.
