Mateo is a very polite person. You need to notice some specialties about Mateo’s bookings: We got Mateo’s very last minute booking request on Feb 15th=2 people starting the day after for 4 nights. We answered the request immediately & asked on Feb 15th if Mateo needs 1 or 2 rooms. Mateo confirmed his arrival 1day later, but did not answer our question - how many rooms? We answered all his questions and asked AGAIN how many rooms he needed, but still NO ANSWER on Feb 15th. On Feb 16th (day of arrival) he answered: "I will just be by myself? i didnt even knew i already booked. i come tonight if i have the adress I'll find the place.“ nobody of us understood what he meant and why he did not know that he booked „already“?=very confusing! We were still prepared for 2 people. NO ANSWER about 1 or 2 rooms so we sold the second room to somebody else. Mateo got the 3 people bedroom (1queen+1single) for the price of 2 people as booked. 2 beds were fully prepared as booked - freshly washed linen included. We asked AGAIN for the arrival time. He proposed to let us know 3 hours in advance. Then he told us on the day of arrival "Hi sorrry. I just realized that i accidently booked two people. I am really sorry for that. I tried to change reservations but I also am still stucked in Karlsruhe. WOuld you please tell me how we sort this out? Thanks a lot!“ All of a sudden he cut down his 3hours notice time to just 1hour. We still made it possible! Even did a FREE car-pick-up at the train station. At his arrival the house-key did not work, but we organized a working key when the shops opened again+exchanging even his room-key. In the meantime we got an alternation request (ON THE DAY OF ARRIVAL!) canceling person number 2 for a price difference of total 360 EUR. Following the „strict Airbnb-cancellation policy“ stated clearly in the listing I declined his alternation request. He was not happy about this and started making things up “Hello Rob, I have just thought about it again. When you wrote to me that you gave me the last double room, but asked if I need 2 single rooms-this has made no sense in my mind at all. So did you just like to earn € 500 more in your pocket - I can understand your point, but it leaves a bitter taste-because this is not conclusive to me. The apartment is still great.“ Honestly we lost him right there. Not answering, booking & canceling in 1 day and apparently still not knowing how he needs to use the Airbnb-System. Mateo and his family are very nice! Everything was good with the apartment after their departure! :)
Mateo and his whole family is definitively nice people, but since for Mateo it was first AirBnB experience, I had a lot stress for everything to work out. Reservation was last minute (half day to check-in time), and i had to prepare flat for travelers, but Mateo asked just to leave their luggage and come back later, but he didint mentioned it for his family, so 5 people family just came in, and started chilling (after long trip). Mateo father evend didin't know the country he is, so I felt not welcome, but still I had to prepare flat for comfy stay.
The reservation was made for 4 people, I had to prepare extra sheets and bed for one more, not mentioning that the prices differences, exactly for that reason.
My highborn, who is sharing same main door, called me and asked why his/my door is unlocked - i was shocked.
After all, we settled up check-out time, but at that time travelers were gone,, and left key just near door.
After all, Mateo and his family is definitively nice people, and clean as well, but before accepting reservation, hosts should make sure everybody accept rules and guide them through the AirBnB process.
